The bride and I will be on the coast this weekend in Gulfport and I'm gonna treat her to a late valentines dinner. Where do I need to go?

I'm a west side guy so I'll make a few recs:
Bay St Louis: Trapani's & Northshore. Both are nice seafood restaurants.
Pass Christian: Hook and Cuevas Bistro just reopened after burning down.
Long Beach: Steve's at the LB Marina. Probably gets my highest rating when I weight food quality vs value. Snapper Cat Island may be my favorite dish on coast. Harbor View Cafe is great for brunch & dessert. I'm not a cake guy but I get cake there.
Gulfport: Half Shell Oyster House or Capt Al's steak and shrimp. Don't go to Al's if you don't like steak and shrimp. Everything cooked in a pecan wood pit.
Biloxi: Mary Mahonney's. Also check out Blowfly Inn for lunch.

Half Shell oyster house is hard to beat.

Lat time I was on the MS coast I ate at a place called Steve's Marina. The original one was flattened by Katrina and they rebuilt a few miles inland. I thought tey were really good. I've eaten at Mary Mahones one time but I was a child so don't really remember enough about it. I know it has an excellent reputation, though.

I've always liked Trapani's the most, but I haven't been to the newest location. Mahoney's has always been the go to spot in Biloxi. That's a safe bet and right next to all the casinos.

Steves is very good but there's not a whole lot close to it.

I agree with Mary Mahoney's because the experience is hard to beat.

If you want a shrimp po boy, go to Oneals on Pass Rd or Hwy 49 in Gulfport

Try Le Bakery on Oak street Biloxi for Vietnamese Po Boys, wonderful French bread, and spectacular sweet pastries.

Enjoy.

Ralph nailed it, Mary Mahoneys .
Lobster Georgio, or Twin Sisters of the Sea are the best dishes.

Bay Saint Louis: Trapanis or the blind tiger
Pass Christian: Bacchus
Long Beach: Darwells
Gulfport: Cork and Cleaver or Halfshell

BSL: Trapani's, North Beach or the new Old Cuevas Bistro
Long Beach: Steve's Marina is a cool place with a great view and if you like oysters - the Oyster Reef club is good. Both are in the LB harbor and have great views.
GPT: The Chimneys is great and a good place to take the wife. Half Shell is hard to beat for the price, Lookout is ok
Biloxi: Mary Mahoney's no doubt

I would go with The Chimneys (trout amandine) or Mary Mahoney's (Sisters of the Sea Au Gratin) and you will leave happy.

Darwells is a cool place but I don't know if that qualifies for wine and dine. That's a fun date spot imo

They're at the Long Beach harbor now. On the water.

What was that about twin sisters being the best?

If the menu at Half Shell is the same as in Flowood, get the Redfish Orleans. I don't know what is in that sauce, but it is outstanding flavor.

The same for the Oysters Orleans.

It depends on what you want. If you want good seafood at a reasonable price, Dempsey's on Kiln-Delisle Road close to The Kiln is a great place for fresh seafood.

http://www.eatatdempseys.com/

If you want a classy place with food to die for, I suggest Mary Mahoney's. Bobby Mahoney has done a great job keeping it great. It is THE PLACE to go in Biloxi. Here is their web site.

https://marymahoneys.com/

The Oyster House is a seafood chain that has focused on being more of an upscale chain. I have only eaten at the Oyster House in Biloxi, so do not know anything about their Gulfport restaurant. Here is the Gulfport website:

https://www.halfshelloysterhouse.com/index.php/locations/gulfport-ms-location

There are also a couple of combo seafood/bars called Shaggy's in both Biloxi and Pass Christian. They are both built out over the water and have a "Margaritaville" ambiance, and food that is decent, some great and others, not so.

The Mediteranneo in Ocean Springs had excellent ambiance and food, but you had to BYB. It closed recently and is a loss to people on the coast.

I'll cosign BB and Dempsey's. It's a laid back atmosphere where good fried seafood is king. If that's what you're looking for, you'll be happy. I've eaten at Shaggy's numerous times because it was close to the old condo. Food is decent but it is a fun atmosphere. I'd suggest having a beer and not get too adventurous on the food (fried seafood, fish taco, fish sandwich, etc...)

Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King. They all have 4 for 4 or 5 for 4 specials going on right now! If you wanna splurge a little The Waffle House across from the Beau is very nice! Clean but the night time waitress only has about 3 teeth.

If you want a casual open air lunch with shrimp and beer on the water, Shaggy's is hard to beat. Festive atmosphere and laid back right on the water.

Repetitive, but:

If you want to stick in Gulfport, Corks and Cleaver for a cool fine dining atmosphere. Chimneys is also good. Half shell is a great value and more casual than the other two. Half Shell also went up and down while they were expanding, but the last few times I've been, they've had really good food and it's a little cheaper than Corks and Cleaver and Chimneys. If I were going to pick one, it'd be Corks and Cleavers. Just be aware they only have beer and wine. The only recommendation I've seen that I really disagree with is Captain Al's. It's fine but not good enough to be on my coast rotation. Same things goes for Look Out although fine might be a little more praise than it deserves.

If you're wanting to get out and see the coast:

Bay St. Louis: Trapanis if you want nice, Blind Tiger if you want casual. Northshore is good two but if you're going to pick one place, I'd pick Trapannis.
Pass Christian: I'd go to Bay St. Louis. Hook is good, but I'd rather go to Trapanis. Shaggy's is ok food and fun atmosphere, but I'd rather go to BLind Tiger. Bacchus has been outstanding, but I think they've been a little up and down as they expanded to multiple locations. Not sure how their quality is now. I was down on Old Cuevos Bistro before. Solid, but just enough better places that it was off my rotation.
Long Beach: Darwell's. A BYOB dive. Good food and cool atmosphere at a cheap price. I haven't been to Steven's marina in a while or the Bacchus here (Oyster House maybe?), but they have good reputations.
Biloxi: Mary Mahoneys is good. I think they're overrated, but that's just because their reputation is so ridiculously good. I'd certainly put it with COrks and Cleaver and Chimneys. Also another Half Shell here. Another Bacchus. If you don't mind the casinos, BR Prime has good seafood, Jia is excellent sushi, Mignons has good steaks, Tien has good sushi and other asian food, 32 is good fine dining but is a little inconsistent for the price range. If you want a beachy place, the Reef is better than Shaggys.
Ocean Springs: Plenty of good options, but Phoenecia is the best. BYOB restaurant.

I forgot to mention Trapani's on Beach Blvd in Bay St. Louis. Trapani's is run by people from New Orleans and has a Creole influence. On nice days, it is great to eat out under an umbrella. The fresh speckled trout smothered with ettouffee is really, really good. Since this is a late Valentine's Dinner, I suggest Mary Mahoney's, Trapani's: (http://www.trapaniseatery.net/) and the Oyster House.

Then you need Mary Mahoneys as your primary target. Secondary is Trapanis.

Yep, Mary Mahoney's. One of my cousin's family owns that place. It's literally a landmark and nationally known restaurant.

As far a Po-boys go, I always have considered Lil' Ray's the best in Gulfport. Am a huge fan of their Roast Beef Po-boy.

As far a Po-boys go, I always have considered Little Ray's the best in Gulfport. Am a huge fan of their Roast Beef Po-boy.

I've been a Lil Ray's fan for decades, but Oneals has their shrimp po boy beat these days. Lil Rays is one of the only places you can get boiled shrimp, crabs, and crawfish (in season).

Also, a bar in downtown Biloxi, Adventures, had unbelievably good food about a year ago. Not sure if that same chef is still there. One of the best Oyster Po Boys I've ever had.

Lil Ray's is good, but to me they don't really stand out any more. Pirates Cove, Ben's Deli, and taranto's are all as good or better.

Imo Pirates Cove has fallen off a bit. When I was a kid (15-20 years ago) I remember it being awesome. Last 2 times I've been I wasn't wowed. Still solid though. I've heard tons of good stuff on Taranto's and went one on a Sunday but it was closed. It's on my short list of places to eat I haven't been. I had a great poboy in OC but I cannot remember the name of the place.

I like The Reef much better than Shaggy's. I work down there every other week and always take clients out. I would recommend Half Shell and for a little more casual the Reef.

The one thing I like about Shaggy's is if it is cold out, they have a fireplace in the center of the place that is pretty cool but the food isn't as good as the others in my opinion.
