Will?s recovery depends on his biological makeup (genetics) and a host of other factors ranging from the surgeon/procedure/rehab/etc.
I tore my ACL (and MCL and meniscus) in June of 2014 and after surgery was participating in my sport of choice in approximately 8 months afterward. I am twice the age of Redmond, so most likely he could come back quicker than I based on recovery rate of athletes in their prime. Adrian Peterson is probably the most famous athlete to have multiple knee surgeries to return at a high level, and he did so under 9 months. Some doctors say 6-9 months for elite athletes is a common timeframe for a comeback although the rate of success is not as high as one would expect (63%).
