That's not really saying much. If the defense doesn't get burned by the big play the last two games we'd been 10-3. Of course being 9-3 means we don't play NW either so maybe 9-4.

Lot of "what ifs" with former players that could have drastically changed Mullen's tenure for the better... Hell, the "correct answer" is always clear in hindsight.

What if Croom had redshirted Sherrod in 07 -- like has been done to every single highschool OL to come through MSU since? I'd think chances were pretty good he would have stayed for his 5th year in 2011 -- and that whole season changes with him back. Instead of being a preseason sleeper pick, we would have been legitimately in the conversation in the west IMO. In hindsight, it's just crazy what our expectations were with a converted DT as our starting left tackle... But the WHOLE complexion of that season changes with him anchoring our OL for Relf...

Hell, what if Croom had left us a decent base of upperclassmen players(which Mullen is virtually guaranteed to leave when he's out of here at this point)? Bumphis(maybe), Smith, Heavens, Cox(doubtful), Boyd, Cam Law, and Banks are redshirted in 09 and now back as 5th yr seniors... Let that sink in...

So, with Mullen's redshirting program fully in place, we are playing this year with a team that, overall, lost Arceto Clark, Fletcher Cox, Darius Slay, and Corey Broomfield. We don't even notice Cherry being gone because he's playing behind Boyd and likely never goes on scholarship. We bring back all 3 starting linebackers, 3 of 4 starting DBs(Jay Hughes took Broom's spot late last year), and 3 of 4 starting DL.

Keep Sherrod in 2011, we're a 9-3 team at worst and may have gotten LSU.
Keep Cox in 2012, we're a 9-3 team most likely since you have to think the overall defense would have = 2011 instead of being a dumpster fire.
Keep Bump, Banks, Boyd, Lawrence, Chris Smith, and Brandon Heavens, how good are we expected to be in 2013?

Of course, the side effect is that we'd still have Wilson -- be singing his praises -- only to see wheels fall off this year(without Fletcher) instead of last year how they did...

Same regular season outcome, but might have edged Northwestern. Idk

And as we all know, we almost burned Tyler's redshirt as well. Which means we would have Dak and a freshman that is unproven, and maybe/probably would have had to have wasted a scholarship on a JUCO QB simply to provide depth- and that scholarship wouldn't have gone to someone in our last class.

It made me sick to burn those redshirts in 2009. And we have no one else to thank for that other than Croom.

Let that sink in? What sinks in is that you are full of it.

"Like anyone could every even know that, Napoleon."

Whatever, Kip.
