Yep. And I like certain schools for developing young coaches. Valdosta has put a lot of good coaches out. Like Northern Iowa. He went straight from their to Buffalo and was co-DC their at a very young age. Might be a great hire.

Good grief. Spend 10 min doing some research on a guy before you at least make up your mind on him. I mean why would be want a coach from the Hatch/Deen tree that produced Kirby Smart and Will Muschamp. That was a co-DC at Buffalo just 3-4 years after playing at Baylor. That has done well with his position group everywhere he has been. From the Dallas area. And was still 43 in the Big 12 in recruiting at Iowa St after his primary guys were shifted to the new shaft this recruiting cycle. What will he do here recruiting, I don't know but he has the makings of a young up and coming DC in a few years.

I just sent a text to a College coach contact I have outside SEC and asked him if he had any insight on Coach Maurice Linguist an ex Iowa state coach .. His exact reply text was Who????

I guess it depends on which camp you are in, we lose a lot of assistants to better jobs cause other programs want them or Dan is had to work for unless you are his buddy. Don't ask me, I'm just a 45 year season holder trying to do my part.

True. And someone else posted he was on a panel with Dan at the coaches convention, where Sirmon pitched Dan very hard on wanting this job. They may all three had discussions there. I don't know that though.

We didn't have spot then. I didn't mean they talked about him joining us then because we still had DT. Buuuut if we knew DT was leaving for the NFL but would wait until after signing day then it might have been under wraps. Best guess

Well I can see that. But if it was a surprise then there really was too little time. Saban is waiting to fill out Mel's spot as well. If we did know and you fill it with him immediately the perception is you were going to hide a coach leaving from the recruits and that can bite you as well. And I wonder if the leak was delivered by the ex-UNM Titian GM who still had plenty of contacts to know who they were looking at hiring at the Titians. But again, just speculation. Bit of a double edged sword with the timing.

Maybe if we had hired him before hand , it would have meant Hev would of had to get on the road with him somthe CCB just decided to wait... That's too much work..
