Ad much as we get worked up about all of this, let's not forget that for most of these kids it's the biggest decision they've had to make in their young lives. Just think about each and every one of our life perspectives at 17-18. It was far from the one we have obtained living and observing as many or more of these signing days than these recruits have been living.

I don't understand all of the gnashing of teeth. When Mullen went on his little interview excursions after the season, I knew then that recruiting was going to be a dumpster fire. I hate to say it, but we probably needed a year like this to wake everybody's ass up. We have made fun of OM winning signing day, but anybody who laugh's at that shit this year just needs to be castrated. From the littlest peon in the athletic department all the way up to Kennum; from the donor who gives $100 a year to the Bulldog Club to the guy in the shadows who provides $100 grand to the bagman; from the trainer who washes jocks all the way to Mullen, we need a COMPLETE reevaluation of how we recruit in every aspect.

Have you seen how OM is introducing their signees this morning? Have you seen how we're introducing ours? It's night and day. It's embarrassing. It's time we moved to today's world. If I hear the narrative that we get 2 stars and make them into 4 and 5 stars one more time, I'm going to puke. Does Howland take that stance? Cohen? I wonder why not?

I'm not behind the scenes to know how we go about recruiting, but I"m willing to bet we're recruiting like it's 2006 instead of 2016. Recruiting has changed, but I don't believe we have. One minor example of what one school does that I wonder if we do... and I guarantee makes 0.5% difference in whether they sign with them or not ....They send birthday cards to every member of the family throughout the year. They get the birthdays of the prospect, the mom, the dad, any brothers or sisters, even the grandma and send them birthday cards throughout the year. What does this do? It keeps them in front of the family all year long. And when it comes time to sit down and pick a school...if they are in the final two or three, the grandma and momma have a personal connection that makes them favor that school. Does this sound stupid? Sure it does; but if it contributes 0.5% of the 100% you need to get the guy, it's worth it.

I read an article about Lee Davis, our behind the scenes recruiting guru, who came to us from Alabama. She does all the behind the scenes things such as sending out mailers all the way up to coordinating visits when they come to campus. In the article she said Alabama had 8 people doing what she is doing by herself at MSU. I don't care what the hell you are doing....selling snow cones....one person is not going to be able to do what 8 do. But that's where we are. I guarantee you we could get some student interns that can stick address labels on birthday cards and send them out. But do we even think of simple things like this?

And I haven't even touched on the dirty part of recruiting that we aren't very good at either. That's a story for another day. We aren't able to use this part on many out of state guys (see OM troubles), but it would help with some instate.

I just flipped over to see A.J.'s comments about not feeling wanted. The birthday cards must have worked for the other school. This really sucks.

Hell of a post. I want Mullen gone right now! This shit is unacceptable. I think I'm gonna make some t-shirts that say Beaver's bitches and drop them off for him and his staff

Really Clark?

Agree 100%. Had we gotten Lashley it would've been stellar. Still ended up better than I anticipated though. I knew Brown wasn't coming to State.

And it may not be over for Knott, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

So ****ing spot on..
Boom Muschamp hired 15 more people to the USCe football staff than were there last year with OBC... 15!!!!!
This bullshit we spewed a while back that we can't do what Bama does is *****.
First thing Boom did was say we are attacking this the way Alabama does and used their blue print..
And this isn't all on CDM

This is on Scotty Stricklin.. Spend some $$$$$...

Comeon guys. Three + comments between 11:40 (Simmons info) and 12:40. 2 or 3 more still bitching and moaning. The other two boards are alive and well and all the crowers are crowing and the screamers are apologizing. Too many M & W folks just plain suck. Have a hard on for Mullen regardless of outcomes.

Lashley is Bama's 3rd OT to take in this class.... Official now. Even the Bama folks are baffled by this move.

What am I missing, Defiant? I thought he was a good pickup at a position of need...

Summary of the day I've gotten from people. Y'all can chime in and say what y'all have heard.-

Losing Hughes was a major blow. He loved recruiting mississippi kids and made up a lot for Dans recruiting flaws.

AJ was simply a bidding war that Mullen didn't wan to participate in.

Lashley was a dawg until Monday when Dan didn't visit and saban did

Glad Mullen was able to stop the bleeding with Simmons but the lack of recruiting effort in certain areas is discouraging. Hopefully we'll see Sirmon and Buckley make a difference next year and would love if we hired the best recruitor possible for the safety spot. Like it's been mentioned before our recruiting mindset has to change if we want to see our program take the next step in competing for championships.

Nobody visited Lashley Monday, it was a dead period. Talking about prior.
