The SEC rule is 25 signees per class if I'm not mistaken (take a moment to thank Nutt for signing almost 40 kids that one year). So, if they get popped with 5 scholarships a year over 5 years does that mean they can only sign 20? Or can they still sign 25 and process five of them like they used to do?

Anyone know the answer to that?

I believe the loss of scholarships would be from the total 85 and not the 25 new signees.

When the NCAA popped USCw with the 30 reduction over 4 years.
They played in the Las Vegas bowl one of those years with a total of 44 scholarship players...after attrition, transfers, Ect...
Let that sink in UMiss fans...

They reduced USC's initial scholarship grants for 3 years

Reduction of football athletics scholarships to 15 initial grants and 75 total grants for each of the 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years. This represents a decrease of 10 scholarships for each of the three seasons.

I think it may be tied into both. A loss of x per year for xx many years, with the total to not exceed XX.
