View Full Version : How much of the UNM is about to get hammered do you believe?

Much ado about nothing. (the standard bear line of defense)
They will get something, but it will be a huge disappointment to those expecting more. Maybe lose some recruiting visits, but that's about it.
This one is going to sting. The Bears get hit with a laundry list of violations, but manage to avoid the LOIC charge. Lose a couple scholarships, lose some recruiting visits, but manage to not get hit with a bowl ban. Most feel vindicated in their condemnation of the Bears.
The NCAA lowers the hammer. LOIC and academic fraud results in major sanctions for the confederates. Multiple year scholarship losses, recruiting severaly limited and a 1-2 year bowl ban.

Good God..Why do I feel like this board recycles the same crap over and over and over again?

I'm thinking somewhere between the 3 & 4 range. I'm pretty sure they'll lose some scholarships. It's the bowl ban that I'm not sure whether they'll get or not although I would say it's definitely a possibility

3 or 4. That depends on how well the NCAA did their job. Academic fraud is obvious and nobody knows how much Saunders talked. Everybody knows Tunsil's parents and also Tee Shepards family were given housing in Oxford too. That is on Freeze and the prominent Bears are trying to relegate all of this back to Orgeron and Nutt but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know the Network has never quit operating. We shall see .

Just wanted to get a sense of what most folks think will happen.

For the record, I think we will see either 2 or 3 happen. I just have little faith in the NCAA actually doing it's job.

2-3 or 3+

All of it. 3 - 4, years of sanctions and penalty, lost scholarships.

If there is just a NOA involving the Saunders stuff then in the 2-3 range. If a 2nd NOA is also coming with recent stuff then 4+.

My guess is 3 scholarships per year for 3 years. A slap on the wrist, but at least they will be on probation.

Yeah, I'm thinking 2-3. Honestly though, who cares anymore. I'm more focused on the positives of our program than the negatives of theirs.

There's no way they're getting nothing. At the very least, the NCAA didn't suspend Tunsil for nothing.

My guess is between 3 and 4, and hopefully it will be a 4. If OM ends up getting less than ULL, which I don't see that happening, then NCAA Compliance has definitley dropped the ball and needs to fizzle on out of existence.

The one thing that the NCAA is serious about is academic fraud.......this is a notice of infractions (charges), not a notice of investigation. I believe it will be nothing less than 3.

UM is loading the barn before riding out the storm of probation. They are smart, banking on a 1-2 year hit. Worst part for them is the future repeat offender stuff. The network is well in place with a great flow

I kind of wonder how much Chris Jones told them three years ago when they interviewed him. The spinn on that was the NCAA interviews all 5stars. That was horse shit. I also wonder is this why Freeze stayed in contact with him to keep him buttered up to stay quiet. I also wonder did the pending hammered played into Chris Jones decision to leave early. "Having to get out of the State of Mississippi."

Wait and see what UNC gets. That should come out this spring, and if the rumors (posted here about what was in the NOA) are true, OM's punishment won't be far off.

Whatever it is, it'll be a while.

The difference between the uper teir teams and the lower is the the bench. Your Starting 11 will be good but its the next 11 that takes you to the next level. They will have no debth.
