WHICH ONE HAD THE BETTER SEASON - ESPN ARTICLE? (http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/113704/take-two-which-qb-had-the-better-year-chad-kelly-or-dak-prescott)

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. We can build a case for DaGOATa (amirite). OM can build a case for Swag.

I would take Dak (for obvious reasons), but both are studs.

Gotta give some credit to Swag though, he's a hell of an athlete. That read option he was running toward the latter part of the season was damn near indefensible.

Dak was a senior MGK was a junior..lets compare after next season to be fair.

Sloth isn't a stud. He's the beneficiary of Freezus's system and having a 1st round WR & OT. He's good but he's nowhere in the same neighborhood as Dak.

It'll be interesting to see how he does without departing first round draft picks catching his passes and protecting his blind side.

Very similar years, Kelly maybe just a bit better statistically last year, BUT I think Dak should get the nod just because of the OL we put in front of him. Forget rivalries for a moment and stop and think how rare it is to have a legitimate QB debate in the state of Mississippi, has not happened with two legitimately good QBs in my lifetime. At least not to where I thought they both were legit NFL talents. Cheering hard that Dak ends up on my 49ers squad!

It is not an exact comparison. MGK was surrounded by far more talent. Plus had a much better defense setting up field position for the offense.

Ask yourself this, if State had MGK, does State win 9 games? NO! If OM has Dak, does OM have the season it did? Yes. They may have beaten Memphis and Arkansas with Dak as QB.

How did their conference stats compare? I know MGK filled the stat sheet in their non conference games, seemingly moreso than Dak from what I remember.

How many times did Dakota get to pad his stats by being up 40+ points and still chunkin' bombs vs FBS competition?

Just because we looked like complete shit trying to defend it due to utter lack of preparation doesn't make it indefensible. We've run a zillion different versions of the read option under Mullen. Our D should have been more prepared than just about any to stop it.

Kelly was still throwing bombs in the MTSt game in late half of the fourth quarter.

Dak had better SEC-only stats

Having to deal with these types of articles is on Mullen for always consistently taking his foot off the gas.

Not that I disagree with you, but lets also not forget Dak was sick one game (Troy?) and only played about 1 qtr.

Yeah, Dak's stats are better in conference games.

That really should be the criteria. When just showing general statistics it includes the 70+ point romps that OM put on some of their cream puff OOC opponents. Also, Dak basically missed an entire game against Troy that he could have put up big numbers had he not been sick.

Plus Fitz & Staley playin time. Dak didn't play the whole game vs OOC opponents.

1) Dak would not have lost to Memphis.
2) Dak would not have lost to Arkansas.
3) Dak would've been in ATL with the best LT in America.
4) Dak would've been in the playoffs after beating the dog mess out of Florida in the SECCG.

And how would Dak have done all these things? He would've thrown about a dozen less interceptions than MGK.

Also, padding stats when running up 70 points against no-name teams doesn't make you a better QB.

Best post in this thread. MGK is a punk.... Wouldn't want a guy with his character associated with our school. He has Johnny manzielitis.

Notice I didn't say "that read option he ran against us was indefinsible." i said the latter part of the season meaning multiple games.
