Nothing like a 6'4" receiver that runs a 4.48 plus I hear he's a damn good baseball player too

4.48 40? Is that legit? If so how the hell is a 6-4 WR that runs a 4.48 a 3 star?

He didn't have a offer from Bama. I think the guys who give out stars are dumbasses.

He ran a 4.51 electrons time 40 at a Nike opening combine last spring so 4.48 is pretty accurate.

Regarding Davis. Do yall remember the day he flipped to us then a little while later it was back to bamer? Then a little while later he tweets "people just don't want me to be happy "? To me that signaled his heart is with MSU. AND he's surrounded by people pressuring him to bamer. Or did I miss the time line?

How is he in baseball?

Read on yahoo that he had over 25 fbs offers for football and "a handful" of D1 offers for baseball. He's left handed so may be our left or center fielder in the future. Dude must be just a heck of an athlete.

Saw this past season he had 56 receptions, 1114 yards (so ~ 20 yards per catch), and 19 (NINETEEN!) tds. I think we just found our deep threat

We have to remember that recruiting rankings are NOWHERE near a perfect science. Farrar looks great but even my unskilled eye can see parts of his game that will need work at the next level. Crisp route running, going full speed, high pointing the football, using his size more effectively without drawing a flag, elusiveness after the catch, etc. I believe Billy Gonzalez will do great things with the guy if he is committed. Great pick up though.

And that whole deal disgusts me and sounds like it might be coming from someone on the Meridian coaching staff. I realize Bama has plenty of supporters in Meridian but come on, Meridian is IN MS and has a freakin' campus site for MSU. If there is an actual Meridian coach pressuring a Meridian prospect to go out of state (Bama or anyone else) then somebody somewhere should take some action. Hopefully this is not what's going on.

Yes, please do. I listened to his podcast from earlier this week and couldn't make heads or tails about specifically who locally was putting pressure on him to stay with Bama.

If I try & retell the whole story I'll totally screw it up. Here is the link to the podcast...http://www.bulldogsportsradio.com/episode/10144/the-boneyard-recapping-a-wild-week-one-of-official-visits/

Basically his caregiver is the one who tweets his stuff for him since he's not into all the hype & such. He's the one who had the phone. And something about what John Garcia (recruiting ananlyst in Bama) was hearing in Bama was conflicting with what was being tweeted...I dont know. Too much to remember. The podcast will tell you. But had nothing to do with some Meridian conspiracy. Wish I could tell you what minute mark to go to but I'm at work & can't listen to the whole thing again to get the jist. I'm sorry.

Bear was raw out of high school. This kid went to a high school with top notch facilities. His development will be minor to Bear's. I really thought he was going to Okie St. This is a huge steal. He and AJ will give fits to opposing DBs.

I truly hope we don't stick him at first base is he runs a sub 4.5.

bet he could touch a 6.6 60

Very true in that you can't compare 6A Texas football to whatever level Bear was playing at in Alabama. I do think we are going to get a similar type player with very similar impact.

He's probably a corner OF- I don't disagree with that at all. But you also have to take into consideration how much practice time he is going to get in baseball and playing the OF at Dudy-Noble can be very tricky with the wind and sun. If he can learn the OF quickly- and I certainly think he can, he will be in RF or LF for us. If he has some problems out there- him playing first base is an option. We just have to get him on campus and see how he does.

It's sort of like Bear and Elijah playing basketball. But the good thing about baseball is there is less overlap in seasons so it will probably be easier to translate from one sport to the other.

Based on what I'm reading, yes, Farrar is a bigger receiver but I'm not sure he's exactly Bear. Apparently he's around 6'4, 210 with 4.5 speed. Bear was more like 6'6 240 with 4.65 type speed. Farrar would seemingly be more like a physical match with Morrow than Bear though a little faster than either. So he's big, but not huge like Bear. Bear was just a total physical mismatch for almost any CB and was able to use his basketball skills to shield off CBs the way he would opposing players when getting a rebound.

I don't think Bear was quite that big. My guess would be 6'5" 230 or so.

Farrar and Bear are about the same size when they were in high school.

Unless the kids are 5 stars and then we swing and miss

Chris Jones was a 5 star, Jamal Peters & Leo Lewis were a fraction away from being 5 star athletes, Simmons is a 5 star (but you probably don't think we have a chance with him) and the fact that this kid is from an athlete breeding ground of a school in Texas should tell you something. We don't always "swing and miss."

Dan and company are doing things that have never been done before at State. He's a trailblazer and sometimes you take the wrong trail because you're the first to do it. Dan however is taking more right trails than wrong and we are benefiting from it. Notice the more experienced he's becoming the better he's getting. Could we do some things better? Of course but as a whole the health of our program has never been better. I for one am excited about the way I believe this class is gonna finish and anxious for football season to get here!

No, just no. Bear is nowhere near 6'6 240. Calvin Johnson isn't 6'6 240 and Bear isn't close to his size. I don't know anything about this Farrar kid but if he is 6'4 210, then he isn't far from Bear's size now.

Yeah, Bear was listed at 6' 4.5" 212 lbs on his recruiting profile. He was listed at 6'5" 215 lbs on this year's roster.

You can't compare Farrar to Bear. Alshon Jeffery is a better comparison. Jamal Couch is a better comparison to Bear.
