At least I know why they think they're able to pay recruits without repercussions. Coaches (at least at MSU) spend around 40 hours or more a week dealing with their specific compliance official at the university. If any coaches in any department at any university thought they could ignore a compliance department, then they deserve the NCAA to throw the book at them.

I've never believed message boards were really anonymous, and I don't think I've ever said anything I'd be too embarrassed of (maybe a little to much of a smart ass or too quick to call somebody a dubmass), but I'm still private enough that I wouldn't participate in a public forum if I thought it was that easy or likely to get outed...
