Right?

Or moronic?

I don't know.... this list of "best" DCs from some shithole site is not exactly who's who of recruiters, maybe the defensive mind is just not that relatable.

All I know is fans clamored for recruiters and Dan goes and gets 2 recruiters.

Would you rather coach the defensive players for Alabama or Valley State?

Maybe not moronic but ironic. Some who said we should not go after a recruiter but a strong DC are now happy with the hire.

This guy might end up being both. Everyone has to be given a chance sooner or later. Heck even someone took a chance with Saban at one time.

Hadn't thought about that before. 247 has a top 25 recruiter of 2016 list. Only Clemsons DC made the top 25 thus far. Someone else can go through previous years, I gotta start a long drive.

I think that's generally the stereotype, DCs are gruff and serious like Chavis, etc.

I don't think the guy was hired as a recrooter. I haven't followed closely, but it appears to me he got a promotion to DC.

I hope he wasn't hired as a recrooter, at least not for geography. MSU is never going to be a major player for West Coast players. And in all honesty, I'm not so sure the good ole boy stuff like Freeze is what we really need to do at MSU. I believe we are basing our crootin more on quality of what we are doing. This guy seems ready, plus he's got playing experience in college and NFL. That sells itself.

It's OK if your DC can recruit. A nice plus actually. But it's not a reason to hire someone for the position...

Buckley will probably be our recruiting coordinator. Supposedly, he's already hit the recruiting trail hard.
