I see we have offered Desmond Fitzpatrick a 4* WR that he was on at Louiville.

Exactly

Unless our new DC is coaching tonight or is in the NFL playoffs- he would have been hired by now

Guys, Buckley is about to expand our National recruiting in a big way, it appears.

We just offered this 2017 CB out of California...

Or waiting to interview at the convention or Dan isn't settled yet. Which he doesn't need to hire someone until he is.

Fitz Squared

Nicky already tweeted him last night. Fitz2Fitz I'm pretty sure he said.

That might be a sign of where we stand with AJ.

Nope.

According to all the recruiting guys, it has nothing to do with AJ or Couch & we are just trying to sign the best 25 players that we can. This guy more or less replaces Sullivan

Fred Brown graduates next year, & who knows, Gray could go pro with a big year. Ross will be gone too. We have tons of slot guys, but we are very thin at outside WR after next year. I think that's why we're trying to get as many guys as possible. Besides, other teams load up on WR's every year and it's just viewed as them recruiting well...I think that's all we're trying to do.

Until we recruit more consistently, we all probably immediately think of it that way...but I really think this is just about trying to reload the WR cupboard for 2017 & beyond with the most talented guys possible.

Basically means Dan wants three new toys to play with. And if this cat wants to come you take him regardless. As far as DC goes, I think it's about to be announced this week.

Nope. He coached DE's at Ole Miss in 1978-1979. He may still be loyal to them. **

He looks just like Fred Ross in HS & I'd be surprised if Fred was faster than a 4.6 guy.

Jerry Rice ran a 4.6 and you know there isn't much difference in a 4.5. Most SEC receivers are in that range. There are very few guys that legitimately run a 4.3 anywhere.

Jerry Rice would not be Jerry Rice in today's game IMO. Not to take anything away from him, but an undersized 4.6 guy in a west coast offense isn't going to put up numbers like he did at SF.

Jerry Rice would put up #'s comparable to Larry Fitzgerald in today's game. Rice was 6'2" 200lbs & Fitz is 6'3" 215lbs. With the lack of physicality DB's can use today Jerry would live on the 10-20yd routes today.

I agree 100%.However, there were faster guys that couldn't do what he did with route running and sure hands. He ran timing routes that created separation. Any good WR can do that if the Qb will get it to him on time

Disagree. Rice had strong hands and the toughness to hang on over the middle after the hit. Combine that with eyes in the back of his head telling him to turn around cuz his qb was in trouble works today and will also work in tomorrow's NFL.

You're right. With CB's unable to hit or cover like they did then, Rice would put up better numbers.

A couple of years ago, some serious sports site did a comparison of who the "best" was at each position in pro football, as in, "Who was the best QB ever," etc. It sparked a lot of conversations about different positions. Someone asked the site why they did not do one for wide receivers. They said that Jerry Rice was so much better than any wide receiver to ever play that there was no reason to even talk about it. The comments all agreed.

Rice would put up numbers bigger than anyone in the NFL today. He ran perfect routes, had great hands, never got caught from behind (speed) and studied his opponents so that he know exactly how to be successful. Talk of Fitzgerald or anyone else is pointless.

Jerry Rice wouldn't be Jerry Rice if Bellard would've said hello to him. You know he wanted to come to State out of high school right? Good thing Bellard wasn't interested...At least his dad told me that.

But Mardye McDole made the NFL off of Bellard's team. Don't know how though...a wideout does that.

I think that distinction would go to Ronnie Lott. He'd be ejected for targeting the first possession of every game today. I wasn't a San Fran fan but he could forever more knock your dick in the dirt if you came across the middle.

No kidding, Ronnie Lott was a certified bad ass! Loved watching him play! Glad he didn't come along in today's NFL.
