I was coming here to post about it. I just saw the trailer. I'm not much of a movie goer but I'll go see that one. It will be interesting to see how Hollywood does this story. I'm going to have to re-read the book before I go.

Saw the trailer for the first time when we watched Hateful Eight. I'm looking forward to it.

Which book Liverpool? I only vaguely remember this from my MS History at State. Looks like a really interesting story. My family is from Union County, GA originally (well, since 1820) and had split sympathies. I'd like to read and compare to what was going on in GA.

The State of Jones by Sally Jenkins and John Stauffer. It's good stuff and a great story.

Thanks. I've started reading CW era stuff again after a long layoff. Downside of being a historian is sometimes you get burned out reading about history for fun.

I'm supposed to be related to Matt M's character.

Switch eras and/or read some mindless drivel for a change up. I bounce around between the Civil War, Ireland, WWII, Churchill, the era prior to WWI, WWI naval stuff, medieval England, and Marian/Caesarean era Roman history with a broad smattering from all over. For mindless drivel I like some science fiction and fantasy. Dune, Foundation, Tolkein, Jack McDivitt, Harry Potter, The Ender's Game world, Ringworld, Riverworld, and Harry Turtledove's alternate Civil War history are my favorites. I also like the history based novels of James Michner and Edward Rutherford.

Yeah, that's what I do. My problem with CW era was that it was most of what I read from age 10 until my mid 20s. Between that and running a CW museum for a few years I just got toasted on the topic.

I burned myself out on Civil War reading when I first got out of professional school. It was the first time I had had time to read for fun in years. I still have more books on that than anything but I only get a new one every now and then now. I read more about WWII than anything now.

I thought the book was "Echo of the Black Horn" or something like that...definitely the Black Horn
