They were saying it could possibly happen Saturday. I wasn't listening very well and I thought I heard the name Davis. Has any one heard this rumor? I think he was a DT.

Raekwon Davis is who they were most likely discussing. He doesn't even have a Bama official visit planned, ifyouonlyknew has commented several times that he is juco bound, but he is certainly one we would want to put at Co Lin.

He'll be a great OT in 2018

Sign and place and it's fantastic to get him if we do. That said, this new world of recruiting where we don't even "get" these guys because they enroll in JUCO early is weird to get used to for me. I think it's good to know that he's likely in the boat.

Heard yesterday that Davis has been working his tail off and may get qualified. Still probably a long shot, but at least there's a chance now. Keep working, big guy. We need you on campus.

He's ballin at DT and is a matchup problem the OT talk won't happen in reality.

Agree with defiant. He will be an OT for us in 2018 and a good one at that.

There are exceptions and Davis could very well be one, but you usually don't want a 6'7-8" DT. OT may be his only option, and he would probably be a good one at minimum.

Since when? Chris Jones is 6'6...Tennessee in their hayday kept extra tall and big DT's. You guys have fell for the message board hype thinking he's playing OL because he's tall. That's a Qb's nightmare in the pocket

Like I said, there are exceptions, but the taller you are as a DT, the harder you have to work to get and maintain leverage. If you look at the list of NFL DT's, they're almost all 6'2"-6'4" with a handful of outliers.

I know all about leverage and they're also more likely batting a lot of balls. The shorter lineman were/are to stop running teams. The game has changed to a passing first sport. You need pressure and passing lanes disrupted.

Then why are there hardly any 6'6" or 6'7" DT's on that list of active NFL DT's that I linked? If what you're saying is correct, there should be plenty of them given how pass-happy the NFL is. 6'1" is more common than 6'5" is.
