Jay is a nice guy and an ok recruiter. (yes, I've been around him some)
But only Ok, no better or no worse than any decent recruiter.
Y'all also have short memories on his DC days.... run out of Memphis they were so bad, then a LB coach at Michigan on a bad D.
Yes, he has done great at Alcorn and is probably the best HC in the SWAC.... but he ain't exactly going against any Nick Sabans. Hell, he ain't even going against any Houston Nutt's. He may be the smartest guy in that room, but that's no great accomplishment.
If we hired him as a safety coach only, I wouldn't be pissed. If we hired him as a DC or a play caller on D, I'd give up on State
