Good win tonight. Zone was the difference maker last ten minutes. Forced Tulane to go 3-20 on 3's.

I thought it was a great win. Just now got to see the replay and thought this was the first time you could see they were playing as a team. I didn't see the same selfishness I saw in previous games out of some of the seniors. If we keep improving and can add Holman soon, we can finish the season above .500.

They were average IMO. But that is beside the point. You are talking about us (MSU) who have wtf losses to really poor teams like Southern and UMKC. If we just win those games, imagine the outlook then. We would be 9-3 heading into the SEC season. Northern Colorado and UNC Cwntral are shit and we should beat those teams. Beating an average Tulane team the way we beat them is a step up from what this team has done to this point IMO.

Not sold he is a great teacher yet? I find this crap laughable. There is only a certain amount of time coaches can be with players thanks to the NCAA. He is having to put a new system and really only could work on the offensive side at the beginning because we were so terribly bad on the offensive side of the ball.

Well, we were also equally bad on the defensive side of the ball and were never taught proper defensive technique. All we did was get physical on the defensive side of the ball and foul a lot. Well that method might of worked okay last year but it doesn't work at all this year. The reason why we give up so many post points is because we have absolutely no depth in the low post (thanks Ray). So in order for us to be effective defensively, we are going to have to play zone. Well, it just so happens Coach Howland doesn't like playing zone however since he feels we have no choice but to play zone to win. He has adjusted what he normally likes to do to fit our strengths and minimize our weaknesses.

Now with that said, do I think these seniors can be a great team? Not really but I think if they can finally buy in they have a chance to finish with an above .500 record and we might be able to beat some teams people don't think we should. It's a shame that it took the seniors this long to buy in and let their ego get in the way. If the seniors would have stepped up (Thomas, Daniels, Sword) there should have been no reason to have any WTF losses such as Southern and UMKC. I put those losses on seniors not buying in. It's a shame because they could have gone out in the NIT.

He took over shit shows at all three stops before coming to MSU: Northern Arizona sucked big time, Pittsburgh really really sucked but in his second year went to the NIT (which I think at the least he will do with us), and UCLA really sucked under Lavin at the end so he had to bring that team up from the ashes. He is more then a recruiter. He is a complete coach. What this just tells me is I over estimated how good our seniors actually are and how significant our initial injuries have ravished this team as well. But I will say this. I think Howland resembles more of a Saban then he does a Stansbury.
