It's the weekend and the weather is unseasonably hot. Thinking about getting the yak out.

Tonight for dinner I cut a whole potatoe into fries Keefer's style. Topped with a homemade beef chili (no beans) and a homemade cheese sauce ( I usually use for Mac and cheese). Felt like experimenting.

Got home this week from 30 some odd days of being away for work so I've been on my usual cooking binge since Wednesday night. Filet's Wednesday, crawfish cakes with a crawfish cream sauce Thursday, homemade pizza last night, and not you fathers root beer on all 3 nights. Wife has a basketball tournament today so we'll be eating out somewhere but I'll pick it back up tomorrow.

It's a must. I get there about once every 2/3 years now, so I go overboard. Just make sure your first time is at the original V by the North Avenue Trade School. Food and overall experience is better than their other locations.

Cooking for the wife's boss tonight. Going with braised elk front shoulder roast over fried cheese grit cake with crispy fried Brussels sprouts tossed in homemade vinegar on the side. Will start cooking this about noon, pics to follow.

Got the cypress smoker fired up with some cherry and whiskey barrel wood chunks. My secret recipe dry rub wings are on the menu this evening. Washing it down with Dale's PA. Trying to upload photos, but I can't get it to upload on mobile.

Got stuck in Henry County on the drive back from ATL. 90 minutes to go 12 miles. No way I was cooking tonight. Got into town and drove straight to the neighborhood grill and got wings and a Sam Adams Merry Maker. I hate that drive. Gets worse every time.

Damn, the Major has it going on...Well done Sapper.

I stuffed a chicken (because it's cheap) with onion, garlic, lemon, apple, and some other shit. Brined the chicken 24 hours in salt/McCormick Tennessee Smokehouse rub. Not in that order.

Smoked the damned thing for 4-5 hours, I forget because I was drinking and watching the Saints actually win a game!. Wow. Anyway, here it is when I took it off at 170 degrees:

Tastes good...looks ok...screw it, the Saints won, I declare victory!

Cheers!!!
