It is being reported that Chris Jones is running second team DE today. Well.... that didn't take long.

I can't stress enough, that while it may seem obvious that Chris would be rising on the depth chart, we have seen enough highly rated prospects come to campus and not catch on, not understand the system, and show immaturity that it is very nice, a relief, and exciting to see that the biggest prospect we have recruiting in years, is thus far doing EXACTLY what we thought he should do. Don't underestimate that!

I read nothing into seeing him run with ones or twos or threes. To some extent, coaches want to give some other guys a look. Gotta eval everybody.

All that said, I hope our DL is like '98 where starting doesn't mean anything because we have enough really good guys that we rotate a lot.

I'd prefer for Jones not to RS this year. Next year sets up to be a great year and I'd rather he has a year of PT under his belt going in to that.

He won't redshirt. I'm pretty sure that was part of the commitment to us.

100% will not redshirt barring an injury or something unforeseen.

Agreed. I think he rotates with Denico Autry and takes that spot next year.

By the way, I feel sorry for whoever has to line up against a rotation of Denico and Chris. Not nice. smh

I'm happy we have de's that that'll actually have our tackles ready for what they'll see in the sec

To put our DL rotation in perspective:

We now have 4-star AJ Jefferson running 3rd team

5 win team my ass

I thought about that, C34.

I also thought about the other DE position with Preston Smith and Ryan Brown rotating. Torrey Dale, who some say has NFL potential, is running third string.

No slouches on either side at least three deep.

This team will be good. If the dt's (particularly quay and nick) perform well, this could be a really good team

Just looked at the practice pictures from today, is Chris Jones the most physically mature bad ass looking freshman we have ever had?

I remember how good Fletcher looked his freshman year, but I believe Chris is just a notch higher. Not talking about production or how good he is, just simply talking about his physical build.

Fletcher was a beast too.

Chris wont rs. He is a man, per the staff. Hype is legit.

Fyi, jefferson wasnt a 4 star talent but will be a good player for us.

When you make Nick James and Quay Evans look like little guys, you are a damn Giant. If it's true that he is running a 4.75 at that weight, he is a freak of nature.

Personally, I think he is way too big right now. I would like to see him around 285 at most. But, if somehow he maintains that speed at that size....who am I to say shit. Dude is ****ing monster.

Nick James, Quay Evans, Richie Brown, Chris Jones...

This lends true perspective to what monsters he and James really are...

Jones looks like the real deal while James looks way out of shape.

I'm waiting to hear more from Richie Brown, but the fact that I haven't tells me how truly deep we are at LB.

Jones isn't bad out of shape.. its certainly been a process getting him down to where he needs to be but in person he doesnt look like a slob. He will continue to mature and will be drafted as a prototype nose in a 3-4.

To put it in perspective quay, nick, jones, denico, preston brown, and ryan brown will almost all certainly have a chance to be pros.. for that matter pj, eulls, and torrey I bet at least get into camps.

Obviously, he's moving up the depth chart because he's too big and slow to play at DE and he's going to be a DT.**
