I understand the fear that this will happen, but I believe Chris can maintain his weight, size, and speed to stay on the edge. No use worrying unless they allow him to get to 330.

This is just messageboard bullshit

Chris Jones will be a DE and is not sliding inside...he is too tall- you don't want a 6'7 DT because offensive linemen will have a leverage advantage

Yeah -- watch the video of turner's yesterday. He literally called him an athletic freak.

Has anyone seen a report saying he's lost a step? I sure haven't...

I hope he doesn't move inside too but the leverage argument that everyone is trying to make isn't always valid. See Tommy Kelley the once highest paid DL in the NFL.

If he is able to play around 290-295 and maintain his speed, he may even more valuable than Clowney due to his ability to assist in stopping the run game as well as putting pressure on the QB.

well, the Raiders are idiots- but Tommy is 6'6- still not as tall as Jones...there are some exceptions- Tennessee's DT this year is 6'7....it's just something coaches prefer not to have.

Chris is going to be a 300 lb DE and do a good job at it. He will learn alot backing up Autry and then be ready to dominate next season

Chris Jones is going to be a monster 300 pound DE in a 3-4 for an NFL team.

I hope you're right, but he hasn't played one snap in the sec yet much less the nfl.

he's as talented as Clowney and will be a top 10 pick in the NFL in 3 years.

Agreed and we all need to get on the bandwagon like other programs do. SC does a great job at promoting clowney. We need Chris jones name everywhere.

To succeed in the nfl you need more than just talent. I do like hearing jones is a hard worker and willing to be taught. I can certainly see your prediction coming true and I hope it does.

I actually asked Mullen's that i heard a rumor Jones might move to DT and his exact words were..."Who is the damn idiot who told you that!" Enough said!

I said the same thing when everyone was bitching about us taking another 2 star during the summer. He's a freak.

yeah, he ran with the 2s today after the 4th day of practices because he's too slow and is moving to DT.**

@engie- where'd you take that pic? You were awfully close to me yesterday according to that angle unless you had a telephoto lens or something. I was RIGHT THERE. LOL!

Kelly actually also played DE in the 3-4 for the Raiders in addition to DT in the 4-3. Kelly also weighed 325 per wikipedia, but I imagine he weighed a little bit more than that.

Running him at DE today with the 2's is one peculiar way to move him to DT.

I'd say that is someone who doesn't know much about football listening to someone who knows less. I'm not talking about you either.

He's still only 18 years old and likely to grow more. Possibly pushing the 6'8"-10" range. Also, comparing to R Nkemdiche, it appears that Jones is the better built of the two and will most likely end up being the better player in the long run. Crazy for State to have a player of this caliber and stature. Could be special for us and be what we need to get us over the hump.
