We have won 49 games over the past 6 seasons (could be 50 if we win the Belk Bowl). Never before has MSU won so many games over 6 consecutive seasons.

Overall, the 2nd highest win total over 6 years was 46 wins. Happened 3 times:
* 2009 - 2014
* 1940 - 1946
* 1939 - 1945

Jackie's best run over a 6 year period was 41 wins. (1994-1999, 1995-2000, 1996-2001)

Point being - overall, across time, this is clearly a great time for MSU... Let's enjoy it! #HailState

Let's not ignore Jackie played 1 less OOC game a season

If you gave him the extra win every year it still wouldn't catch him up. This is a good way to think about where we're at.

So, if were to win the bowl game, that averages out to just over 8 wins per season. Amazing how far we have come to think that's not good enough! Don't go telling me how we should not be satisfied with 8. I'm not, but thankful 8 is a "down year."

Also don't ignore that the SEC west was much less difficult during a lot of Jackie's years.

And that Jackie lost some of those "easy" OOC games.

(Cringes remembering the tie against Arkansas State)

Tie to Arkansas State. Awful. Beat by ULM. Blown out by a 4 win LSU team. My goodness how bad were some of the west elite teams we played back then.

You have to take out 6 wins vs. FCS and the 2011 and 2013 bowl wins (wouldn't have been there during the 90s) to get an accurate comparison.

If we win the bowl, Mullen would be ahead of King Jackie by a game 42-41. Sort of puts it in perspective, but there again, those were Jackie's BEST, and he had double the time as Mullen to put his 6-year runs together. And we can now effectively say that this is the best it's been since World War 2.

Bump

It'll take 48 more years like this one (with no Mississippi team reaching #1 in the polls) to top what we've done during this stretch.
