Agreed. My confidence level just went down dramatically. We are better than Virginia Tech and the crowd would have been 50/50. NC State will bring more than us and it will be like a home game for them.

We seemingly always get screwed like that. Texas in the Cotton, NCAA tournament where same thing happened, and now this. Might as well play usc in the Rose Bowl.

According to Sagarin, Virginia Tech and NC State are almost exactly the same, and we're about 20 spots better than both.

Yeah, we're still a better team than them.

Those guys stole our "This is OUR State" billboards and put em up in NC. Then promptly lost like 16 conference games in a row.

You guys may want to check NC St record & wins before giving up on the game.

4 awful non-conference games (must worse than our non-conference schedule, as none of their FBS opponents made a bowl)

3 ACC wins over 3 teams that went a combined 3-21 in the ACC. And those 3 wins are Syracuse beating Wake and BC and Wake beating BC!

There aren't enough SEC bowl games that are west of Florida. I wish the New Orleans bowl would increase in stature and trade places with a Florida bowl.

Would never happen Florida is better at tourism than anybody.

I wish the Heart of Dallas Bowl was a tie in with the SEC. The Cotton Bowl has become so involved in the playoff that SEC fans are missing out on an easy trip to a fun city.

Don't forget the fact that they are the youngest team in FBS. Their punter, kicker, long snapper, and kick returner are all true freshmen. I think they only have like 6 seniors that start. Yet they red shirted their best recruit ever for the program. And this isn't a team full of 4 and 5 star freshmen.

EDIT: They do have a damn good coach..... he was the guy that left NIU right before they played FSU in the Orange Bowl.

Redshirting your best player? Sounds familiar.

And Strakville is closer to Miss State than the Jackson Metro area but I bet there are more from the Jackson area at home games than from Starkville. It's north carolina and they have NC State fans all over North Carolina.

As a crow flies Raleigh is only about 130 miles from Charlotte. Blacksburg probably 170.

Not to mention they're the largest university in the state and we will be going to the largest city in their home state. I'd be willing to bet that the NC State alumni chapter is bigger in Charlotte than Virginia Tech's.

If you go by raw national stats, we're both comparable.

We have a slightly better offense, but we are a better passing team whereas they are a better running team. And yeah- who isn't- but they're in the top 40 in rushing in the country.

Very similar rankings on defense, but they're in the top 25 in pass defense. And they're in the top 20 in total defense.

Their offensive line actually allowed more sacks than ours believe it or not. So, based on their rushing stats, they must not be able to pass block worth a crap. Their defense is 28th in the country in sacks. That's scary for us.

On paper, it looks like it's strength on strength basically.

Maybe I'm still a little "meh" from our season. I was actually looking forward to playing Virginia Tech, and having one last shot at beating a name program this year. Playing NC State is a lose/lose....win = you were supposed to, Lose = you are embarrassed.
