I agree, I like the matchup better than any good offensive team. They have a good defense, and typically their corners are excellent....so we'll have to come out with a good game plan offensively.

Looks like this will be their 23rd straight Bowl under Beamer, and they're 10-12 in bowl games under him (if my math is correct). Should be a winnable game over a good program, so I like the draw. We definitely aren't going to get blown out if we lose, unless we turn the ball over a ton...because their offense isn't too good. It could be a low scoring, tight game...or we beat them handily.

With our secondary, we should pray this is who we face.

I think bowls are dying with the Championship. Once the major teams are no longer in the top 4, there is a big drop off in fan support. Not that we were at that level, but very few bowls outside of those are getting great crowds anymore. It is too expensive for most, for a game that doesn't mean anything. I'm not spending 3 grand to take my family to NC to the Belk bowl.

Agreed. If we were doing Music City or even Gator (got friends who live there), I would go.

But overall, bowl games are dying, and I think the reason is that they aren't special anymore. Everyone gets a bowl.

Yep. There needs to be less bowl games, and it would help if there was a true bowl game pecking order, where you get 5 vs 6, 7 vs 8, 9 vs 10, etc.. Regardless of conference, as long as they aren't in the same conference, or something like that. I hate auto bowl tie-ins for conferences. Give us teams that are thought of as on the same level from different conferences, and let's find out who's better. And for God's sake, no 5 win teams in bowl games...there are way too many bowls.

Make all the bowls part of the playoff bracket. Eliminate 3 OOC games. Why should March Madness have all the fun? Bet more fans showed up if their team still had a chance to win the NC.

That Va Tech team had to use all their heart to pull out a squeaker vs Virginia to become bowl eligible for Beamer...in other words, regardless of heart, they aren't very good. I wouldn't put much stock into Beamer's last game stuff is all I'm saying.

I remember Bear Bryant's last game with Bama was a Liberty Bowl, and I swear I've never seen a team hit the other team's players so hard as Bama that day.

VT will be the same way, playing for Beamer's last game. Still, they're not very good and they've barely won several games (and barely lost a few) to some even worse teams. They did play UNC close at the end of the season.

I'd be a little afraid of playing VT in Beamer's last game, but on the plus side, the minor bowl will get more pub and more viewers because of it. And I think we can beat them even with emotion on their side.
