Current top 10 is :

1. Clemson 12-0
2. Alabama 11-1
3. Oklahoma 11-1
4. Iowa 12-0
5. Michigan State 11-1
6. Ohio State 11-1
7. Stanford 10-2
8. Notre Dame 10-2
9. Florida State 10-2
10. North Carolina 11-1

So it looks like Alabama (unless FL pulls off a miracle), Oklahoma, and the Iowa-Mich St. winner are in. But what is the most likely scenario if NC knocks off Clemson? Would NC jump everyone in front of them to the Top 4 or does OSU somehow sneak in? I assume NC would get in as I don't believe they would want 2 Big 10 teams but who knows. Any thoughts on that?

I think you have to put the ACC champ in. If they beat an underrated Clemson, they should jump big time.

If the favorites hold and NC wins, I'd have it:
1) Iowa
2) Bama
3) OU
4) UNC

Sort of strange how things work. UNC's only loss is to South Carolina. If they replayed that game today North Carolina would beat South Carolina by 20 points minimum.

Don't forget about Stanford..... they can get in the top 4 with a Clemson loss (they have to beat USC of course).

I agree they should jump, but I bet it wouldn't happen. The committee has no problem leaving out a conference champ.

If UNC beats Clemson, Ohio State will be your 4th team in again.

I heard Dan Wetzel on Vernon's show (Memphis) at lunch. He thinks Ohio St climbs back in with a loss of any of the top 3.

I can't see them justifying a 2-loss champ over a 1-loss champ that just knocked off the #1 team. If Clemson was 4th or something, I could see that.

I fully expect the 4th team to be UNC or Ohio State if Clemson losses.

What about Stanford? Potential Pac-12 champ with a W against USC in the championship game plus 4 top-25 Ws (when they played the game). 2 losses came to two top-25 teams, 1 at the beginning of the season and 1 to quite possibly the hottest team in CFB (by 2). Compare that to UNC's schedule. 1 top 25 win (at the time) and a loss to the worst team in the SEC this season.

That's a good point. The committee seemed to put a lot of emphasis on conference champions last year once they were decided. Could be potentially UNC or Stanford jumping OSU.

You could also make a case for Clemson to stay in even if they lose to UNC. Would have a strong resume.

I still think Stanford is stronger. Clemson would have two wins against top 25 teams (both at home, and both ranked when they played) and struggled MIGHTILY against USCe. I don't completely disagree with your thought, but I think Stanford has a stronger case (adding the conf champ aspect in there)

The only problem with UNC is that they played two FCS teams this year. So they are sort of 10-1 right now. With a loss to a bad SCar team

Barring chaos on Saturday it will be:

Clemson v Iowa/MSU
Bama v Oklahoma

It's not that OU isn't deserving of a playoff spot...but I wouldn't mind if the committee somehow kicked them out of the playoff just so the Big 12 would bring back its conference Championship game.
