Someone asked this before, but it's a valid question.

He should be 1A.

If Coach34 is right Freeze will be going for the UGA job like a fat kid after a piece of cake.

tbh, it's probably as simple as he tells his agent to decline any inquiries. guys that consistently quickly drop off the radar for jobs or aren't brought up in discussion very often even though it seems like they should be are guys that tell their agents not to pursue openings and decline any contact about other openings.

The reason he stays at OM:
> He's already home. He's not at a place where he has that variable to try and get closer to his roots.
> He's one of the highest paid coaches in America. An extra million doesn't outweigh his living at home.
> He has a network in place to make his recruiting successful and they are totally behind him and have bought "all in". Yes, there is such a thing. Most schools have them.
> He's beloved by his fanbase and fully supported by his A.D. and can survive a few down years of 8-9 wins that coaches at LSU and Georgia can't.

The only reason he leaves:
> The NCAA investigation is real and he KNOWS that they are about to get sanctions. Until he knows for sure, this is not a factor.

In contrast, out of the reasons above, Mullen only can point to his being fully supported by his A.D. Although he is beloved by part of his fanbase, he can't even say he is beloved by all, as witnessed by the comments of the last 24 hours.

You must have missed the comments on nafoooom after OMU lost to Arkansas.

You are right about that. There is a significant portion of their base who do not believe he is a good coach. The best positive they have of him is recruiting and his ability to stay out of the networks way behind the scenes and using their recruiting playbook. They love that about him but not his coaching at times. You can copy verbatim things said on this site about Mullen's play calling and game decisions and paste it to their sites and it would be identical at times. Just change the names.

My view:
+ Freeze is a plus recruiter
+ Freeze is good at being a spokesman / face of a program
- Freeze has a reputation for being dirty
- weird stuff happens around his program all the time
- it is less clear that Freeze has much skill in identifying talent
- it isn't clear that Freeze has the ability to develop talent
- it feels like Freeze lost his locker room this year and I question how long his Schtick works
- Freeze is thin skinned and doesn't deal well with scrutiny

If you are Georgia and pride yourself on running a clean program and have a state chock full of talent where the biggest problem is deciding who to take, Freeze is a bad fit.

Mullen is a shitty recruiter but he is great at talent identification. Georgia would be a better fit. Just my 2c.

Straight from a current D1 coaches mouth....

"No one is talking to CHF because the know what he is doing to get the players he does to OM.. "
Not willing to take that chance....

It's blatant. They're willing to accept the risks, but not the blatant way they do it. E.g., the Tunsil recruitment.

True, but there have been several openings. Not a peep about him. you would think they way they recruit and hell they beat BAMA twice...yet he's not at the top of any lists?

He may be but he is just smart enough to keep it on the low low so it won`t screw up his recruiting if things don`t work out. Unlike our eternally loyal coach

Not really....
All I'm doing is answering the question to this thread by what a Head Coach said..
Believe what you want to...

He was, for Florida last year. Short memory?

Maybe. But a number of UNM connected people don't believe that was anything more than floating his name for a pay raise by the agent. One I know who has Florida contacts as well laughed about it because the Florida people wouldn't even consider touching him, per his source. Something was out there but from what side and how much, who knows.

He should be 1A.

Because his agent is not phoning every AD with a job opening.*******

The guy grew up an Ole Miss fan did he not? This seems pretty obvious to me. He's got it set up perfectly there and he's able to recruit better than Georgia at his own home.

He doesn't recruit better than Georgia. He did beat Georgia in '13. Here's the comparison since freeze has been there...

All 247 composite

'12 -- Georgia 8th, om 47th
'13 -- Georgia 12th, om 9th
'14 -- Georgia 8th, om 15th
'15 -- Georgia 5th, om 17th

Georgia's current class is rated higher too. Freeze has done a good job recruiting... Just not better than Georgia

That's one website and you're essentially splitting hairs. I'll rephrase to say he can recruit to Ole Miss as good as he could to Georgia. Ole Miss is trending up as we speak in recruiting as well. Not to mention with those last 4 recruiting classes you compared Freeze's current team would beat Georgia by 2 touchdowns.
