What are your thoughts on Chip Kelly, elitedawgs?

Good offensive coach that doesn't mind getting dirty. No connections to the South that I'm aware of, but neither did Mullen outside of coaching a few yrs at UF.

He is at least a 4 on the coaching portion of my coaching scale. I'd give him a 3 on crootin just because he's got the stones for it. Lack of contacts in the south keep him from being a 4 or 5 in crootin, but with the right staff in place, there is some upside from being a 3 in crootin.

In summary 4 coaching + 3 (at least) in crootin = 7 as a HC with some upside to a 8 or 9 depending on who is in his staff.

For reference, I had Freeze at 2 coaching + 4 crootin = 6. Mullen at 4 coaching + 2 crootin = 6.

No chance. Not worth discussing.

I think he's great. He'll do a good job at usc. We wont get the time of day from Kelly

He would laugh if we offered him

He would absolutely be worth a call and pitch, but I think it's pretty unlikely he's coming here if he wants back into the college ranks.

But yeah, it couldn't hurt to offer him the moon and see what happens.

Spurrier went from UF to the NFL to SC.

That's about the same track Chip Kelly would be in by coming here. Main difference I can see is that Spurrier was a southern guy can Chip Kelly is not. Kelly is a yankee just like Mullen. Common thinking is he'll stick to the PAC12, but he was only there for like 6 years. Not like he grew up coaching out there.

I suppose this would be a better possibility if there weren't so man other jobs open.

He is the most sought after guy in the coaching carousel. No chance he is going anywhere other than a top 5 program

Chip Kelly ain't coming here. When he comes back to NCAA ball, it will be somewhere like USC or Texas.

chip kelly will be coaching mariota in tennessee. he hates recruiting and dealing with boosters. as someone that got a grad degree from oregon and lives out here, there's just tons of stories of how he pissed off boosters and recruits being generally off putting on the personal level. i think his coaching and system is fine for the NFL, it's his personnel decisions that are crap. if the eagles move on this year, i could see the titans hiring him as a coach, but not handing him the GM role that he finagled to get last year in philly.

Really Clark?

USC has reached out to him but he is not sure if what direction he will go. Still is speaking like is wanting to build what he has in Philly but is aware that he and ownership may part ways. The Titans are also very much in play with getting him.
