Why does no one want Hugh Freeze?

The OM hate week thread got me thinking... Do other colleges avoid him because of his blasphemous use of religion to sell his program or is it because he underachieves with the talent he is able to acquire?

I guess it could also be the hanging NCAA investigation too though.

He's a good recruiter with help but not a very good X and O coach. He doesn't get the most out of his guys. Hell this was suppose to be the best Ole Miss team in 60 years. I think that is his handicap and every AD in the country see through his high school coaching.

Basically he is a snake oil sales man and they all see that.

Excellent question. Having done nothing to earn a raise, his agent must are asleep at the wheel. I've not seen Freeze's name come up on anybody's speculative list for other schools that are said to be shopping.

Who is going to pay him more than 4.3 Million a year? There really are only a handful of places that can or will do that. I really think sometimes people underestimate just how great the Ole Miss or MS State jobs are.

Dickie Scruggs types wanted a pliant stooge to avert his eyes long enough for the "boosters" to buy enough talent to beat back the Mullen threat and maybe make a splash nationally.

It didn't work. They're headed for the Belk Bowl (or possibly a step up, doesn't really matter) with their first rounders and the NCAA is going to pop them any week now.

What about that resume could any smart AD resist?

This is the answer. Mullen and Freeze both get paid an amount to where realistically, the only schools that will outpay MSU/UM are elite schools. Realistically, even those schools won't outpay MSU/UM; if either Freeze or Mullen leave it will be because those schools offer the resources and tradition to provide an easier path to a national championship. They won't get a salary from those elite schools that MSU/UM wouldn't match.

Mullen has sustained success long enough, without raising any redflags, that he will be a potential candidate for some of those jobs. Freeze needs to show what he can do for a few more years.
