Do you remember what it was like pre Mullen? Do you remember a 3-2 game against Auburn? Remember the loss to Maine? Mullen has taken us to new heights we could only dream of. This is our ceiling and it's still better than anything that Croom or Jackie could do so some of you need to sit back and think about this.

**** that. I don't like losing, and we looked like shit today. I'm glad we aren't Croom team now, yay...doesn't mean I have to enjoy us playing below our potential.

Jackie took us to the SEC Championship game. We also tied for the West another year. But yeah, this is probably Mullen's ceiling.

We must clinch the west before we play bama on the schedule if that's even possible in the years to come because we ain't beating them. Bama is our kryptonite.

Screw that. I want bielema or a bielema clone. Our offense makes me sick. I appreciate everything Mullen has done here and he's done a lot, but I'm ready for him to find another job. I was hoping Georgia would lose today so they might come after him.

98-00, our best years under Jackie, Bamas program was a mess with revolving door in the coaches office. OM was changing coaches. Auburn was down. If the 2014 team could have played vs 1998 Bama and OM, we would have been 12-0.

Dan has done things that this program is not used to. Just because he hit those Milestones does not mean he is the be all end all of MSU football. Sometimes you do your best, but your best is not good enough. Not saying that is definitely the case but there are some changes needed. I dint get 6 figured to core t the woes of state football so I won't even make my suggestions. But rest assured some changes need to made in a spot or 2. I'm not calling for Mullen to go (once again) but something needs to happen to get us over the hump

Last year's team would have won today's game. I know that doesn't count, but it's not Dan being incapable of planning a game or coaching. I do think it's unacceptable for Zack Jackson to play anymore though, he simply needs to go. He has cost us multiple games in my mind, he a 17'ing linebacker and can't tackle. UNACCEPTABLE.

Absolutely not. I'm done with Mullen, like I said he's done great things here but it's time for him to move on. You can't fire him but I do think we can be much better off with another coach. I hope he leaves after he coaches our bowl game this year.

Don't have to be happy.... Just be right. When somebody says we have to replace everybody over a loss to Bama.... That's a bit childish. Mullen has been a great coach. Does he get to keep his job forever... No. He has to produce. Butnth talent we have right now is worth giving him 2 more years.

Who gives a crap that we were bad in the past? That's an unbelievable loser mentality that seems to have taken over half of this board. If this is our ceiling, then we need to let Mullen go and move on. I don't think this is our ceiling with him though.

Yeah..... Just like last year... And the year before. Mullen always seems to make adjustments in staff at the end of the season. This time last year, Collins knew we would be parting ways

The whole Jackie taking MSU to higher limits seriously needs to stop....the SEC West during that time was pathetic compared to today! It was a hell of a lot easier to win the west back in Jackie's day. And that MSU team that did go to Atlanta was an 8-5 (6-2 SEC) team at the end of the year...it's not like they were world beaters or anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm still proud of that team, but comparing the West of today with the West of that time is just ridiculous.

Bama did to us what they were supposed to do based off their top 5 classes for the last several years. Mullen called a good game and it appears he can't satisfy some regardless. I've heard people second guessing his 4th down call on the goal line, but if he wouldn't have gone for it people would say he was playing uptight. We played for the win in the first half, but talent took over in key situations.

I'm surprised more people on here are not pissed that Dan did not go for it on 4th and 3 on our own 27 with 9 mins left....he punted which basically conceded the game...relentless effort my ass! The game was still alive, barely, but alive none the less. Dan just basically said well, we can't do anything more with 9 minutes left!!!

He's still building the team the way he wants it and just moved to 2nd in the West. His team is what a football team is supposed to look like. I hope we beat them next week but it's not looking good after today.

They're too busy high fiving about 6 wins and because Dan's our coach, and he's taken us to a place above losing to Maine.* Who cares what happens beyond getting bowl eligible...being within 25 of Bama at home is the best we can ask for at this point in the process.*

I agree. And that 3rd & 13 QB draw before half was like saying "I just want it to look competitive", because we were officially no longer "playing to win" at that point.

LSU just went for it with 8 minutes left on their own 30. I left when we punted there. I said if our coach is giving up then I am too.

One thing I fault Dan for is keeping Dak in when he knew he wasn't getting it done. In the early minutes of the 4th he should have brought in Fitz to let Dak cool his heels and also let Fitz get good reps in a big game.

He quit early in the 4th quarter back in 2011 against LSU, and I was pretty damn disappointed then, but I'm even more so now considering he is supposed to be more experienced as a head coach...

I don't know what was worse, the draw on 3rd and 13, or following it up with a move right out of the Hugh Freeze playbook "Hey! Let's go for it on 4th and long at midfield, I don't care that the opponent has two timeouts and enough time to get in FG position, nah we got this!" I literally yelled out "Dan you are supposed to be smarter than Freeze, but apparently you are not!"

This program is light years ahead of where it would be if Mullen wasn't here. We have a really good QB coming in to take Dak's spot next year and plenty of other offensive weapons. Defense is fine, we played well enough to win today, the offensive struggles just kept them on the field too long. I'm calling it now, we go to Ark next week take care of business and then whip Mississippi the next week.

If you can't run, it's hard to score in the red zone. Add bama's defense to that and you get 6 points. We had a decent game plan, but just didn't make the crucial plays needed to beat an elite team.

Who the hell said fire Mullen? What we are all upset about is that Mullen is doing insane things with his coaching, and by that I mean he is doing the exact same things he has done in the past or currently and expecting different results, that's insane! For example running it up the middle tonight, and expecting it to gain yards, when it just got stuffed over and over and was obviously never going to work. Dan does these things all the time with his coaching, and we aren't seeing any changes, so it's driving us all insane....we want to see Mullen adapt, evolve, and become a better coach, we are just so damn frustrated watching him not do so at the moment....

This is absolutely not our ceiling. I'm not freaking out like several on here, but this makes me more mad than anything they've said. Last year was the most exciting season I've ever been a part of. This season seems like a step back so far, but if we win out, plus a bowl win, this season will be better (it won't feel like it, but it will be), or at least as good. We'll probably take a dip next year, and then back up. That's been the trend, and overall we're improving. The improvements will get slower, but I see absolutely zero evidence that 9 games after our best season under Mullen that you can declare that it's over. That was it. 9 games later we finally realized that we could never be better, ever again.*

It wouldn't surprise me if dan said f this and left after this year. To us, yeah last night sucked but still outside perception is dan has done a great job at MSU. Do I think he leaves this year? Don't know but timing would be about right. Regardless, if he does we are in a much better place. The only issue is look at all the competition we would have with all the openings. I would hope we go after a hc and not an asst. Just my thoughts

It's possible. He has to be thinking this might be as good as it's going to get being in the west division. But he still might not be what the 'higher' profile programs want either. Would he jump ship for a middle tier program like VT that might pay similar money? I doubt it, but if he really wanted a change....who knows.
