Juniors Reid Humphreys, Jacob Robson, Cody Brown, Sophomore Brent Rooker and Senior Michael Smith will make up the outfield. I see Humphreys in the corner OF, hitting DH in some games. He really found his stroke in summer ball. I expect a big year out of him. Robson will man CF like he did in 2015. He is the lead off guy. Smith will back him up and play RF sometimes. Both are super fast. Brown is a corner OF too. He will get plenty of playing time. He bats left. Rooker had a fantastic summer hitting the ball. He should lead us in HR's in 2016. He has to be in the lineup so with the emergence of Jack Kruger tearing up the baseball, I have Rooker starting in right.

Luke Reynolds played some LF in the fall. Collins has to play 3B with the emergence of all our catchers which pushes Reynolds to LF some. OF is the position where match ups come in to play but Humphreys in left, Robson in center and Rooker is right is the initial lineup.

Freshman Jake Mangum, Brant Blaylock and junior transfer Tanner Poole played well in the fall but shear numbers mean they need to redshirt.

What is your take on Poole. I figured he'd have to r/s as well but he's been pretty good from what I understand. Really good defensively and can cover some ground.

Usually it's only 5-6 that play. The 5 plus Reynolds and maybe Collins. We have enough. We lose Smith next year and probably/maybe Robson, Hump, Rooker to the draft. Depends on lots of things.

Mangum played pretty good in the fall. But it the numbers. Start counting guys who will play for sure and you are at 30. But we need bullpen guys the most bc of injuries so there is 35.

Hump is the big question mark for me. I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, color me skeptical. As for redshirts got to know who is on baseball aid to know who won't be on the 35 and will be redshirted. Of course you can have a redshirt among the 35 on aid like cole Gordon last year, but it's more rare.

Cohen will release the roster in February and it will have 40ish on it. Only way to tell is when they don't play. He will lay it down in November exit interviews and a few may not like it. Only way to know.

Actually, we know 27 on the 35 man roster. Those spots aren't in question. It's the 8 not on aid that are in question.

Correct. Jacob Barfield in an interview stated we are out of scholarships so he"walked on". He signed over the summer. He was grateful a big program wanted him. He could redshirt. Who knows.

Went back and looked at the stats for the last 2 years and this past fall, that's when all of these players have played, here are the stats for the 6 that will probably get the most play time. For some comparison purposes I included some past great players stats after their first 2 years to see how these current players stack up after their first 2 years and this past fall. I don't know but based on other comments on the boards I'm led to believe Poole, Mangum and Blaylock will probably redshirt. Defensively Robson, Brown and Smith all run sub 6.6 60's and all 3 are great defenders, Humphries and Reynolds are slow and not very good outfielders but to be fair they came in as infielders and have tried converting to the outfield. Jury is still out on Rooker's outfield play, I believe he came in as a 1st Baseman but he is a good athlete, so maybe the transition will be doable. Biggest question mark for me on this years team is the middle infield and bullpen. Somebody will rise up and take those positions just don't know who yet.

Mangum had a great fall he's just got a lot of big names in front of him so we will see how that shakes out!

I agree with you on Mangum, he had a good fall and looks like a very good player. Outfield is deep this year but you never know. Only reason I speculated he would redshirt is the number of outfielders on board and other post on these sites. Maybe they have more inside info than I do. Mine are just speculation and past trends by coaching staff.

I actually thought Hump struggled this Summer. Personally I hope we start Robson, Brown and either Smith or Rooker in the OF.
