The Royals don't have to worry about losing their power hitters to the MLB draft. I do agree with you for the most part though.

They do have to worry about losing them to the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, etc

Eventually they might but they do control them for a significant amount of time before free agency.

You probably won't see that happen ever again either with anyone. With the wild card, it doesn't really matter as much.
