We have stepped out of the SEC to take down our second opponent from the State of Alabama. What's everyone have going this weekend? I'm heading down to the coast tonight to fish Saturday and Sunday.

For lunch I grilled a 4oz filet. Tossed some lettuce in a homemade red wine vinegarette w/red onion, tomatoe, and blue cheese crumbles. Simple but tasty

This is what I cooked last night for dinner. Pan-roasted duck breasts (see that crispy skin?) with mushrooms in a Madeira sauce. Pretty good.

Not a lot of cooking here. Wife has a XC meet tomorrow morning, then we'll spend the rest of the day doin cruisin the coast. Hopefully I'll have my vehicle by next year where we can actively participate in it. Will be having my share of millers once the meet is over though.

Hit our local BBQ favorite - Southern Soul - for a burnt ends sammich and fried okra. Doing an easy one pot pasta tommorrow night with andouille.

Prediction? Pain.

We've got a wedding tomorrow night -- why two Tennesseans would schedule a wedding that conflicts directly with the Tennessee-Georgia game is beyond me -- so probably not much cooking going on.

On the booze front, I'm continuing my fancy-rum adventure with a bottle of Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. So far, I'm pretty lukewarm on it, at least compared to the El Dorado 15 year that got me looking past whisky in the first place. Sweeter and far less complex. More cane juice than molasses flavors, if that makes sense. (In fact, as I've made it halfway through my current glass, I'm not compelled to go much further.)

On a somewhat related note, I bought the Diplimatico at Tower Wine & Spirits in Atlanta while in town to visit a friend of mine there on business. Some of the prices at that place put Chattanooga's shops to shame. Three examples: EW Single Barrel is ~$29 in Chattanooga, ~$23 at Tower; Dickel Barrel Select is ~$42 in Chattanooga, ~$29 at Tower; and Campari is $30 in Chattanooga, but ~$21 at Tower. Don't know if it's just Tennessee's prices that are out of whack (our liquor taxes are pretty high), but in case they're not, I'd recommend a stop in Tower if you're passing through. (Also, Hop City is a hell of a beer store. Birmingham's got one too, but I think the Atlanta location by Georgia Tech is even better.)

We were determined to grab a couple fish gets so we brought home 44 white trout, ground mullet, and big croaker. Went to some submerged grass in hunt of redfish and I landed a 17 & 14 inch redfish but nothing legal. All in all, easy morning fishing.
