I'm not so sure we lack talent, we lack experience. Not just with the RB but the OL as well! Personally i like our RB's just not the way they are utilized.

Just to add to the list.

We already have Brandon Holloway. Not really a need for another small fast guy that can't run between the tackles. Not to mention he's been excellent as a WR especially in the short passing / screeen game. We will count on him heavily next year when Bear is gone.

I like Myles running the ball but I'm not sure he solves the problem at RB. He's a good bit bigger than Holloway (listed at 6-0, 190lbs, about 30lbs heavier), but I'm not sure you can count on him to pass block when he really hasn't done that in his career so he'd still be more or less a specialist.

We definitely should get him the ball on some handoffs/pitches though. I really like the play we ran where he basically motioned into the pro set, and then Dak had a read to either hand off to the RB going one way, or keep it running the other way with Myles as the pitch man. If Lee and Williams just aren't good enough to play, I'd really like to see us get players like Myles, Ross, and Gray get as many touches on screens, sweeps, etc. as Shumpert gets. Basically want Shumpert to be like a FB. Not a first option, but busts six and seven yard runs when he touches the ball b/c people are worried about other threats. Not sure how effective our offense can be though when the D isn't worried about the TB.

On 3rd and 5, I want Myles running a route, not blocking in the backfield. I do want to get Myles screens and jet sweeps

We don't need Myles at RB- we need our RB's to play RB. Free DLee!!!!

Are there any rumors as to what DLee's problems is? Is he just not that good (I did think Milton looked pretty good running the ball, so maybe Lee is much worse than he looks also)? Or is it discipline problems? Or just attitude problems? Or does Mullen just love him some Shump. I'm assuming it's not the latter as the last time it looked like Mullen was too loyal to a player (Perkins), it turned out there was a reason the backup wasn't playing.

If we moved anyone to RB, which we don't need to do, I would suggest Malik Dear before Myles.

Lee said in an interview (somewhere) that he needed to work on his "off the field stuff" and seemed to imply that he wasn't watching enough film to know his keys in the offense. The Perkins stuff, IMO, was due more to JRob not handling his practice/off field stuff in a consistent and professional manner. Much like the last few games, and definitely the bowl game, last year.

We need about 30 rushing attempts per game to be successful. We don't have a feature back, so accept it and spread the wealth creatively.

Dak: 8 carries
Lee: 5 carries
Holloway: 5 carries
Shump: 5 carries
Aeris: 5 carries
Dear: 2 carries

I think our RBs could be highly effective if we ran more than just inside/outside zone. I know we run more running plays than that but we have been mainly zone read, option, or straight inside zone since 2010. If mullen were to bring back a little of the 09 offense like he ran with Dixon our RBs would be better. I still think they will have a better day saturday than they did vs LSU. Auburns D still looks confused

My thought as well. Malik Dear should definitely be a RB. Even as a RB he can still be used frequently as a receiver.

I'd love to see Shump at H-Back. Been saying that for 2 years.

Agreed. I think he would be hell at RB running Lead, Power, Counter etc. I also want to see Malik Dear Gabey Football (Myles) used like Percy Harvin was

Just to add to the list.

You can't just move a player to a new position, especially RB and expect a fluid transistion. So much more to it than just handing off a ball to them.

I seen it dawg

It's not Rec league football.. Can't just move players to different positions 3 weeks into season..
Myles is where he should be.

The running game will get better overall when DAK runs the ball more period...

If we did something different, I would like to see some 2 back sets with Shump and Lee/ or Aries...

I like it. I give Lee a few more and take away 1 or 2 from Aeris and Dear. Obviously it will never break out just like this, but something similar. Then you slowly start to shift the carries to the guys who are out performing the others.
