More people need to get an enhanced concealed carry permit. That will allow you to legally be armed on school campuses.

I haven't heard that it was a fatality just that they were taken by ambulance and were indeed shot. Not saying what you are hearing is not true.

Aside from the confirmed fatality I am hearing unconfirmed reports of another shot and in critical condition and that this has possibly turned into a hostage situation.

all news sources saying one professor in his office confirmed dead - nothing else. One would hope after all the crap flying around about the situation at MSU last month some people would hold off on the rumors.

While true, university code still prohibits weapons on campus for students and faculty. So, they could not be arrested but expulsion or firing would be highly probable.

I'm still not getting anything confirmed about a second shooter. Just rumors. They did identify the victim as Ethan Schmidt a history professor.

State law trumps university code. It'd be a helluva lawsuit.

Some reports that the shooter is connected to a murder in Gautier, and is a worker at Delta State, just a story I saw pop up on twitter....

If it could possibly save my life and the lives of countless others around me I'd be ok with getting fired or expelled.

I'm totally with you. But if you're 150k in the hole with student loans you're not gonna see students risk it. I never could get a straight answer from UMC admin when I was there with enhanced carry.

That means you could legally do it but they didn't want to admit it.

This doesn't make sesnse to me

"A Geography professor at Delta State University is accused of killing a woman in Gautier, Mississippi just after 10 a.m. on September 14. That shooting is believed to be linked to the shooting death of Professor Eric Schmidt at the college at 10:45 a.m. on the same day.. The suspect in the Gautier killing has been named as Shannon Lamb, 45. "

You can't get from Gautier to Cleveland in 45 minutes.

That link did miss the facts. We don't know when the victim was shot in Gautier just the shooter called it in at 10:20 am. He didn't shot her then. Allegedly.

State law trumps university code. It'd be a helluva lawsuit.

The law allows places of business and universities, etc to prohibit guns from their places of business.....I'm a huge gun rights guy, but there is no grounds for a lawsuit just because a university doesn't allow weapons on its campus.

they still haven't found this guy and you wouldn't think someone is going to house him to help him hide from authorities . I'm beginning to think he found a good hiding place in the delta woods and took his own life

Yeah...only place in Winterville, really, unless he shot himself over by the Fire Department.

Granted, there's a very small town just to the East of the mounds...

Yup. My father was the park manager back when it was still ran by the Dept. of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks. When it was taken over by Archives and History, he was transferred to another park.

No, can't say I do. Did he live around there or something? We moved away back in the mid-90's.
