It has been 13 months in the making, but we now own the world cowbell record. Hats off to the companies and people who sponsored this official attempt. It was a fun night. The crowd looked ready. The coaches looked ready. The players looked ready.

Now if we can just get the student section to slow down their cadence on the "We're going to beat the Hell out of You" chant, we will be ready to go.

Yeah. It's just as bad as ever with that chant. All they have to do is watch the cheer leaders for the correct timing.

Or listen to the beat of the flippin song. It sounds 1000 times better on beat. Trust me students. When there is a pause between the words it sounds better.

I'm with ya, but from personal experience, it is harder to hear the beat in the student section. Idk if it's because the students are just louder or the location but once that chant starts, you can't hear the band anymore.

I had an entire fraternity come and sit around me last night. We were on the opposite corner of the endzone from the band, and once everyone started chanting and ringing the bells, you couldn't hear the band anymore. Of course, the biggest problem is that they were a bunch of no-rhythm-having white boys who couldn't have kept the beat with a band director tapping the beat on the tops of their heads.

Just under 6k I think.

The cheerleaders are keeping time, and every student can see them. It isn't that hard to do. Specially at a cheering "cowbell Yell" event.

The student section looked full from the pictures...They offer 11,000 student tickets, so unless 4-5 thousand of those kids didn't bring cowbells, I'd guess it was closer to 10k.

I was there- about 15k people, and about 10k cowbells, they just have a ton of hoops people have to jump through in order to be counted. Me, my father, and my gf weren't a part of the official count because we could only get there ten minutes early due to my work schedule.

On the up side, the record was only something in the 300s, so we crushed it, and it's low enough that we can go ahead and beat it again in a few years for kicks.

For the record, I had nothing to do with the actual record attempt. I just came up with the idea and tweeted at the right people to get it started. I never even received a response to those tweets.

Good job by everyone involved that got this thing done.
