Is there any validity to the rumor floating that Big Softie will be sitting via NCAA investigation? I may have to adjust my winS prediction for them down to 5.

I'm hearing he won't play but it will be due to soreness is his injured leg...gotta protect that draft stock and not embarrass the kid if you're ole miss. Surely they have the kids' best interest at heart, but they have a lot invested to not pay off.

Yes. I believe C34 has been alluding to this from his sources for months now. Similar to the way I've been hearing from My source on the Paidwell camp that he may take a similar "play not to get hurt and drop draft stock" Approach this teR.

I still think the NCAA is keeping a close eye on that program.

Might be why we have been hearing about true freshman starting.

I wonder if this is "injury" related, or "investigation" related.

Unless they're out for Bama, it's a non-issue. Who cares if they're out vs UT Martin?

If he's out, it's probably going to be until there is a ruling made by the NCAA. So, if this drags on they are not going to risk playing him against Bama if it goes on that long.

Yeah, if that's the case, this could have some legs. We are talking about "big Softie" here, so he could have an in-grown toe nail that's keeping him out***

Why not play him. They will lose without him. Forfeit a possible win or lose straight up. Same result.

He will be back by Bama. Mark it down

Because at some point the NCAA will do something- contrary to many of our fans popular beliefs. Better to lose one guy than have the while house come down.

They have so many players it doesn't matter if he sits all year.

They have 7 1st round draft picks and are loaded- so losing him wouldnt hurt

If he's physically able, he'll play at Bammer... no chance he'd miss out on being the 2nd best LT on the field in TitleTown... Under "the Big Lights"....

I still maintain Northern Miss is "all in" and Big Softie is going to play. No way they will do anything that even hints they might be guilty of something. That said....

From what I'm hearing it's an eligibility issue and not necessarily tied to his MMA debut.

What sad times are these that when a young man chooses to work on an extra credit science project he is met with suspicion and spiteful words? The construction of a paper machete volcano is a right of passage for all scholar-athletes who attend the University of Mississippi. He will be too exhausted from the stress of laying glue-ridden sheets of newspaper on the wire without spilling them on his Peach Bowl Participation Ring to play today. We should applaud his pursuit of excellence. How many UNM Athletes actually try to complete their degrees?

For shame! Cynical, cynical people.

I wonder if when teams sit guys like this if its bc the NCAA warns them to sit the player until it's resolved

starkvegasdawg

Not sure but for Bucky to sit one of his best players there has to be something concrete. They just don't sit players for non injuries.

I'm with WMD on this one. They will play him. If they don't they are admitting there is a possibility that something they did was wrong. That would be totally out of character for them. If he sits that would mean they are absolutely terrified of the NCAA here, and on more than just Tunsil.

If Tunsil is still sitting for the bama game, I will likely die from surprise and olemiss might need to worry a little with the ncaa. They don't need him for the first two games and really, outside of bama, the first half of their season is pretty much a warmup. Florida is in there, but you can't put a lot of stock in them at this point.

If he's out, there's no way one or even two game suspension would satisfy whatever violations took place. Ole Miss did all they could really do which was let the rumblings die down until the games started. It's not their style to be precautionary, so my hopes are up.
