Over here in Texas, the big sports story the past couple of weeks has been the Baylor Rape Scandal. Texas Monthly has come out with a long expose about how Sam Ukwuachu was kicked off the Boise State football team and transferred to Baylor, despite his reputation as being a woman-beater. (http://www.texasmonthly.com/article/silence-at-baylor/)

For those of you too lazy to click the link, Sam was a freshman all-American at Boise State but was still booted off the team, mainly by his teammates (then-coach Chris Peterson was willing to give him a second chance). Peterson called Will Muschamp, who told him "no way". Then he turned to Art Briles who said "yes" and took him.

After Sam came to Baylor, he was partying when he met a Baylor female soccer players. He raped her, then told her "it wasn't rape". Baylor pressured the girl to transfer. In the meantime, Sam was penciled in as the starter for the 2015 defense (Baylor's one big weakness).

A jury convicted Sam and the judge gave him a 6 month sentence (with 8 years on probation). In the meantime, Sam graduated and was going for his Master's degree.

I have a few questions:

-If you're a Baptist university, where consensual sex between two people not married to each other is grounds for expulsion, how did Sam skate? I guess, since it was NON-consensual, it's okay.

-Where's the girl's dad? I know if some kid tried to rape my daughters, his life would be forfeit.

-For how much should the girl sue Baylor? I'm guessing an a high 8-low 9 figure number.

Remember, this is the same institution that had one basketball player murder another and they tried to downplay it (but, hey, we got Lawrence Roberts out of the deal!).

To me, this scandal, coverup, and ensuing Baylor-fan denial (http://www.baylorfans.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=6)reminds me of Penn State.
