I'm curious...when you think of State playing at home, what facility name comes to mind, Scott Field or Davis Wade Stadium?

I grew up with Scott Field. I didn't think I'd ever call it Davis Wade. But somehow I know think of it as Davis Wade.

All day long. DWS is okay I guess but it still feels forced on me in a strange way. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate contributions properly but I personally don't believe in changing historic names of any place for anybody nor for money except in probably extremely rare instances.

There's probably no way to say what I'm trying to say correctly. The name didn't technically change. The field is still Scott Field....at DWS. But in the media more emphasis is placed on DWS and I think more emphasis should be on the Scott Field.

I'm like you, grew up with Scott Field, but without realizing it I've adopted DWS as my immediate response.

Scott Field. Named after an Olympian who went to the old A&M.

Davis Wade has slowly eroded Scott Field as how I reference it.

I blame it on the Mullen era.

I'll pretend Crxxm didn't happen. Sherrill & earlier, it was Scott Field.

The Mullen era where we believe we can compete for national championships...this is so unlike anything that happened at Scott Field, DWS had sunk in much like the current incarnation of the M State logo has eroded my allegiance to the interlocking MSU.

To the common football fan, it is Davis Wade. Among fellow State fans, it is Scott Field.

No idea why. Just what I do..

Scott Field. Davis Wade can go screw itself.

I saw where MSU football referenced it as The Torture Chamber yesterday. Hope that catches.

To be honest, i have never given it any thought, i just call it a home game or stadium whichever fits the narrative.

It has been and always will be Scott Field to me. Just as Dudy Noble will always be the name there (I'll even let "The Dude" slide from time to time), no "Polk-DeMent" for me.

Scott Field always, but when in a very pretentious setting it's always, Scott Field at Davis-Wade Stadium.

The only thing that plays through my mind is Jack saying "Live from Davis Wade Stadium.....AT SCOTT FIELD." He always put a growl in his voice on the at Scott Field portion. I usually distinguish between the two names depending on which I'm discussing.

Yeah. Got it backwards. That's because I don't say DWS part!

DWS. Why would anyone hate saying Davis Wade Stadium? That just sounds so silly and petty.

Nobody hates it I don't think. All about preference and/or how we think of it. Will always be Scott Field to me, whereas the DWS part is kind of in the category of a "sponsor" that doesn't change.

Example: USF&G Sugar Bowl, Nokia Sugar Bowl, etc. -Whatever. It's the Sugar Bowl

Scott Field all the way. Davis Wade got the naming honor due to funding on one small part of the stadium. The ugliest part. After the last expansion the stadium completely changed. I think it's justification to keep the name since they promised the dude, but return the traditional nomenclature for everyday use.

After thinking about it I was surprised at how little I use either name. In baseball I often say I'm going to Dudy Noble instead of saying I'm going to the baseball game but it seems like for football I usually just say something like "I'm headed to watch the Dogs play".

For a few years, it seemed like nobody said Scott Field anymore. Really glad to see it coming back. I'd like more info on the Olympian Mutt referenced as being the "Scott" in the name. Gonna check wikipedia but if you have the story, please share.

Pretty good wiki article. Not sure it's all accurate. Any wiki editors here?

UT Martin was homecoming. There's always a big turnout for those games.
