Depth Chart

The depth chart hasn't changed much since the initial practice -- it's only been a week. But here's the offense from the final open practice to the media.

First Team

Wide Receiver: De'Runnya Wilson, Fred Ross, Joe Morrow

Tight End: Gus Walley

Offensive line (left to right): Rufus Warren, Devon Desper, Jamaal Clayborn, Justin Malone, Justin Senior

Running Back: Brandon Holloway

Quarterback: Dak Prescott

No, that isn't correct, but I fully expect the media to jump on it as another excuse to say MSU will stink.

If you read at the bottom Boner says that Shump didn't participate in the 2 minute drill, but did so in the rest of practice. I guess that was enough for him to declare Holloway as the starting RB

The media only gets to see the team do drills none of the team activities. So they use the order the players are in drills as a way to form a depth chart. None of the media gets to see the team portion of practice so they have no way of seeing who are getting what reps & with whom.

Here is Paul's latest depth chart

DE A.J. Jefferson, Will Coleman, Grant Harris
DE Ryan Brown, Torrey Dale, Johnathan Calvin

Damn, talk about a buzzkill on Monday morning. Not trying to knock these guys but that just does not instill a lot of confidence as to our DE situation at this time. I hope these guys step up and prove me 100% wrong but this does not jump off the page as a dominant 3 deep grouping.

Brown is a draft pick and AJ a helluva run-stopper. Like every other team out there- we have to have some depth step up. I'm not worried at all about the starters

Huh?

Did you expect another two players?

FWIW, Jefferson & Brown will probably both play in the NFL in some capacity

Starters don't bother me at all. Just hope some of the backups step up.

Our starters are good, no doubt. It's the backups he is questioning.
