Very cool looking rifle. How does it shoot?

I've had the itch to buy a new rifle for plinking and varmint killing.

The bolt is was little "clunky" but it seems to be getting smoother with operation... it has a "Savage Accutrigger" style trigger which was a too heavy for me... I cut off a couple of coils off the trigger spring and it lightened it up enough for me...

I've yet to glean enough data with the new scope to comment definitively on accuracy/grouping, but it's certainly suitable for anything woodchuck size and up out past 200...

It's gonna be one of my SHTF weapons...

It's a good alternative to the pricey Ruger Scout....

I've been trying to figure out my yearly rifle purchase and I think it's going to be something similar, Ruger Gunsite in 309 though. It's between that or a never need to buy another deer rifle type like a sako or kimber.

I'm right with ya, Ruck, I'd love to have a Ruger Scout... looks "bulletproof" to me...

What do they run? $800ish?

Yep, I think that's what the standard version runs. They made a black laminate with a stainless barrel that I want to find. I don't think they made any this year though. It's a smooth shooting gun that I probably wouldn't even put any optics on

Speckle, I zeroed a rifle for a cousin of mine and took a bit of extra time to shoot the Mossberg MVP some more while his barrel cooled.

The bolt is not so clunky now that it's had some rounds through it and I've gotten used to it...

The aftermarket AR mag has some play when inserted but there were no feeding issues.

Grouping at 100 (AE 55gr FMJ) was pretty good IMO (about 1.5 MOA) for weapon in this price range...

The Nikon P-223 tracked well...

If you get one, and find the trigger too stiff for ya, just cut a coil off the spring (I cut off 2).

After I shoot it at 200, I'll bump this thread again.
