Would be awesome if they represented the US vs the World teams in a few weeks.

In other news, Oxford residents started paying off good little leaguers from around the country tonight.

I know it has happened before, but I can't remember Mississippi being represented in the Little League World Series in awhile.

I used to umpire Starkville youth leagues in college. I'm very glad I did t have to squat behind a 12 year old catcher trying to catch this guy. Hell, I did summer leagues for Starkville Academy too and they rarely had a catcher who was competent and capable at the high school level.

He has phenomenal control of his pitches for a pre junior high kid

That is because of dizzy dean and Dixie youth and more recently USSSA. Almost no little league organizations in Mississippi.

Credit Tom McReynolds for getting that going in Starkville. Glad he did.

Is Dixie Youth not considered Little League? Just wondering, I played Dixie Youth 35 years ago, and just thought it was a "branch" of Little League.

I think the Flowood Y tried a Little League affiliation several years ago and it must have failed miserably. USSSA dominates MS. The majority of the little league programs left in MS are on thr coast.

Dixie Youth and Little League are 2 different organizations. We played DY in my town. World Series moved around to different towns every year. There was no getting to Williamsport
