They changed theirs in 2001 to remove the confederate battle flag..

cause it was a Clarion Ledger thing...ya know...the ole "trying to make controversy where there was no controversy" tactic. Trying to mix politics with sports when they have no business doin so. The two shouldn't mingle.

I think it is because the battle flag is more universally recognized. Not many outside of the South would know the first flag of the confederacy. I will be glad when all this crap is over and done with.

Nor many inside the South, either. Most think the battle flag WAS the flag of the Confederacy.

They're to ignorant to be offended by it. One of you guys need to educate them that they should be offended by it, and they will be. Maybe do one of those Ad Council ads.

Closure. Too easy for rebels to pop in and start saying how the rebel heritage is great and how the students chanting the south will rise again is just a harmless tradition that's not really meant to mean that the south will rise again.***
