Some great food tonight at a local food house. These folks are so efficient it amazes me. This was the appetizer.

Gonna do up Toyko Tuesday and Wednesday, can't wait for that. One of two main courses...no pics of second as it went too fast.

I'm so jealous. The ex is Japanese. The tako in the first dish made my mouth water (tako = octopus for the uninitiated).

Late night snack after baseball last night - some kind of curry-chili burger.

Thanks Tusk, appreciate that. I can tell you, there are very few unstriped melons here, based on my observations. A cowbird would have to hunt in the field for a long time to pick through the vines and find one.

For you military historians, one of the shrines we visited today was apparently an LP-OP over Tokyo Bay in the 1200's. I have a hard time wrapping my head around that much history.

Last two meals in Japan today. First up, I visited my favorite restaurant for lunch. Ironic that is is a Thai joint….but lets talk about the beer. I have sampled many beers of the last three weeks….hell, there are eight different kinds in the vending machine of my hotel. From this, I can relate that my Japanese beer of choice - by far - is Asahi Super Dry. I have had it out the tap, big bottles, little bottles, cans, and off the back of a beer gal at a baseball game. It never disappoints.

Next, the food. I really was craving this fried flatfish dish, but they didn't have the fish for lunch. So I went with spicy black thai rice with shrimp and spicy fried fish cakes.

The owner of this place was great to us, and I am sure his revenue is going to suffer when we are gone. Right next door he also has a Thai karaoke bar, and we burned that place down a few nights. Lets just say Toto's Africa may have made an appearance after many beers one night, along with the serviceman's standard "Lost that Loving Feeling". Fairly confident one of my Soldier's has at least part of these on video, which should make my retirement ceremony interesting indeed.
