I notice the majority have more SO than BB. Is this a typical for these wood bat leagues? Do they promote a more aggressive approach?

It's good to see guys like Robson, Rooker, Holland, Reynolds, and Gridley putting up good numbers. That's probably the top half of the lineup next season, and I would be okay with that.

With Humphreys, I'm just going to take a wait and see approach. He's going to play every day and hit 6-8 HRs, but I don't see anything that would make me think he can hit much more than .250 as an every day player. I hope I am wrong.

Brown isn't having a great summer, but he will be solid. He's a gamer and he hits doubles.

Smith is a bit of a wild card for me. A lot of people were singing his praises last year, but I just never saw it. Mainly because he was injured most of the season. Unless he just blows up in the fall, I think he is the odd man out with having to find guys like Rooker, Gordon, the JUCOs, and possibly Collins a place to play.

Lovelady is what he is - a great defensive catcher that can't hit. I feel bad because he's a guy you want to root for, but we just can't play a guy who hits under .250 with no power.

The big question for me is who will step up and be the leaders out of this bunch?

Lowe is having a good summer as well. Also in the cal ripken league...

I'm starting to wonder whether Humphreys should even be a starter for us next year. If he's never going to get that average over .250 and is still only going to hit in the 5-8 range in HRs for a season then we may not need him in the lineup at all (with all the other options we have next year) much less being our cleanup hitter.

He does have a lot of expectations based on who his brother is and being MS player of the year. Hopefully the light comes on but right now we might see Gordon and Lowe with Reid riding the bench.

I didn't realize he was playing in that league. Hitting .297 while slugging .537, 2 HR, 7 doubles in 54 AB.

I think Gavin Collins is going to be the leader next year. I think Rooker has a chance to be a good leader as well- if he plays everyday.

I think we will platoon Smith and Cody Brown if I had to guess.

People will probably bitch about it regardless, but the offense will be fine. We need our pitchers to step up.

I'm really not worried about the offense, so long as Cohen moves toward a more traditional approach. Yes, it would be nice to see more HRs for entertainment purposes.
