I had a buddy from Baton Rouge come over and he wanted some trout so our original plan was to trout fish and see how that worked out. The weather man was dead wrong. He called for 5-10 knot winds and waves of 1 foot or less. We had a very bumpy ride out to the marsh in 2 footers. We figured the best bet was getting in the interior marsh and looking for water that wasn't too bad. First stop was an interior bay off of Oyster Bay where my dad has caught trout in the past. We covered a lot of water and only had 2 trout to show. We decided to ride out to an exterior island and see if we could find trout (Brush) and worked that whole island and only got a few undersized trout. We did see some action on a bank on the north side and went over to investigate and got 2 flounder and a redfish for our troubles. At this point the sun was getting hot and the wind was not laying down so we switched over to a redfish mindset and found some nice shoreline back in the interior marsh southwest of 3 mile cut. We fished and wind blown stretch of bank for the next couple hours and that was the ticket to constant action. Got 5 more slot reds, a bunch of rat reds, croakers, and some trash fish. The day wasn't what we were hoping for but not bad considering the conditions. On our way in we just missed a terrible looking storm just east of us that looked like it stretched from PC to Biloxi. All in all another fun day on the water.

Not bad at all. The plan doesn't always work out, but it's nice when you can go to plan B and redfish isn't a bad plan B.

This weather has been frustrating. I haven't caught a really good weather day in ms this year. Had a good weather day in Leeville for Father's Day but that's it. I need really optimal conditions to efficiently catch trout lol
