Gonna be honest:

I know football has evolved since this game was played, but our level of play in 2014 was ten fold better than this. Both teams look very crude & without a plan on offense.

That's just how Jackie's teams typically looked on offense every year except 1994 and 1998. That's why so many of our fans gave Joe Lee so much credit.

Our offensive line in 1999 was patchwork and we had lost JJ, Dennis McKinley, Kevin Cooper, Reggie Kelly, and Prentiss- all huge losses- at the skill positions. And it's still a mystery to me to this day why we started Chris Rainey over Dontae and Dicenzo.

1998's offense with 1999's defense probably goes undefeated. Not that the 1998 defense was bad by any stretch of the imagination, but 1999 was the year we brought in all of those JUCO's that made a huge impact on our depth and leveled the playing field for us on that side of the ball.

It's really crazy to see how far the stadium has come. The improvements may be bigger outside the stadium though, with the Junction and all the other improvements around campus. It's 17ing beautiful.

Word. And now we have 2. The bowled-in endzone just completely changes the experience inside the stadium. It doesn't even feel like the same place anymore.

Yep. That was a big deal then. But I remember when we got the "new" scoreboard in the north endzone with the yellowish monochrome display. "Nice catch" was displayed once or twice that season....mid 80s.

Also, I was blown away by the tailgate scene this year. Our gameday atmosphere is lightyears ahead of the 90s.

I wish there had been better editing of the 1999 Egg Bowl, more commercials and Dari telling us about the need to speed up the replay after even more commercials. I wish they had more MSU commercials that just the one about the LFL. Replay of the LSU, TAM, and AU games was much better. Watching Thunder and Lightning again right now.
