US kicked the crap out of Guatemala tonight 4-0. It was the final tune-up for the US before Gold Cup action begins on Tuesday night.

US got goals from Clint Dempsey (PK), Chris Wondolowski, and Timmy Chandler. The first goal was a Guatemala own goal off a cross into the box from DeAndre Yedlin. Joey Altidore missed an early PK that would've given the US a 1-0 lead.

Gotta be honest, I think we're a better team when Zardes is on the pitch instead of Altidore. He just has a knack for making things happen. It'll be interesting to see who starts against Honduras on Tuesday night. I think Guzan, Dempsey, Bradley, Yedlin, Brooks, Zusi, and Diskerud are locks. I think the other 4 spots will be up for grabs, but I'm rooting for Zardes as one of the strikers. He's earned it, imo.

The opening Gold Cup match can be seen Tuesday night on Fox Sports 1 at 830 CST.

I would rather play a scare crow than Altidore. He just can't seem to make things happen.

I'm beginning to come to the same conclusion. Great at getting and keeping possession, but sucks at putting it into the back of the net. Last time I checked, putting it into the back of the net was the primary job description for a striker. The PK he missed tonight was just terrible. Really comfortable save for the Guatemala GK. Might be time to look at him as a midfielder, especially with Jordan Morris on the horizon at striker. We've got a whole lot of good, young, up-and-coming talents.

Zardes changed the game when he came in. Was good game to be at. Not sure why they let Jozy take the first PK and not Bradley.
