Zac Houston (Wareham) has made one appearance so far. He threw 3 IP with 1 hit, 1 walk, 0 runs, and 5 Ks.

Dakota Hudson (Hyannis) has made two total appearances and got his first start last night. He threw 6 shutout innings with 2 hits, 0 walks, and 7 Ks.

Vance Tatum (Hyannis) has made one start. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run, 2 hits, 2 walks, and 4 Ks.

Daniel Brown (Cotuit) has made two appearances and one start. He's pitched 7 innings allowing 1 unearned run, 1 walk, 4 hits, and 8 Ks. I'd personally rather see Brown as a relief pitcher this summer to prepare him for next season.

Austin Sexton (Cotuit) is the only one who's gotten off to a slow start. In his one start he went 3 innings allowing 7 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, and 1 K.

All in all a pretty good start for our pitchers this summer in the cape. These five are arguably the most important players for us next season.

Thanks for this! Love seeing how our players fair during the off season. I hope this translates into break out seasons next year.

How are the hitters progressing? Out of those pitchers we should get at least 3 good starters then hopefully use a freshman for midweek and filling in the rest.

That's the bad news... Our pitchers are pitching exclusively to our hitters***

Reid Humphrey and Jacob Robson are our only hitters playing in the cape right now- Gavin Collins would be there but just had surgery on his hand. Humphrey has had 20 ABs and is batting .200- Robson has had 12 ABs and is batting .333... Way too early to tell anything on those two. Several other players have gotten off to good starts in their respective summer leagues.

Who is Blake Smith, and where did I miss that we signed him? Another kid from Shelton State.

There have been rumors that we were going to get two more preferred walk-ons. I assume that he is one of the two that were rumored.

Across the board, those are pretty good stats by our players- both on the mound and at the plate. Good to see Holland stepping up- he may yet be able to hold off Luke Alexander. Cody Brown has the worst stats- but I'm not worried about him. Humphreys I have doubts about him ever hitting for average.

The biggest thing is the pitchers stepping up in the Cape Cod- Dakota Hudson is starting to get a lot of buzz from scouts already. I think that Tatum will be fine as long we don't shuffle him between the bullpen and the rotation. It appears as if it will be between Tatum and Brown for the LHP starting spot with the other getting the bullpen spot that Lindgren and Girodo had. Not too worried about Sexton at this point- the biggest thing he needs to do is figure out how to keep it in the yard. Houston could be our closer, although there is definitely a chance he cracks the rotation. Kale Breaux is my favorite to land the midweek spot. I'm hopeful that Levi Mintz or Ryan Rigby become another Caleb Reed.

Dakota Hudson should be given the chance to be our ace. He is one of the only true SEC caliber starters we have

Agree that he should be the ace.

Disagree that he is one of the only true SEC caliber starters we have. I thought Sexton did very well last year- aside from allowing too many home runs. No doubt the 12 home runs he allowed blew up his ERA a good bit. I also think that Tatum has that ability as well. Kyle Peterson mentioned on a broadcast that he though that Houston should be a weekend starter- but I'm not sure that he realized that we had Hudson and Tatum and their potential as well.

And that's not to mention the fact that we have significantly upgraded our talent on the mound with the freshmen coming in.

I would like to see them piggy back the mid week starter's spot between Breax and Small and then use them in the pen on weekends.

If Hudson has a great summer than obviously he has turned the corner. He will be Friday night starter, high draft pick like they are supposed to be. Sexton is true Saturday starter.

We have plenty of others for Sunday role. Very good to see Cole Gordon hitting and pitching.

I'm curious to where Reid Humphreys is playing on defense while in the Cape? If we have serious intentions of moving him to 1st base next season he needs to be getting experience at that position.

Pretty sure he's playing 1st base for his team.

Also should be noted about Dakota Hudson's start the other night- of the two hits he gave up in 6 innings, one was to Jacob Robson.

Well we know one thing, he's not a good outfielder, and that's being kind.

Like I said before, Hump must play 1B, this is his draft year he must have a position. Brown/Rooker, Robson and Smith is OF. Hump will play some DH but he must play 1B.
