Sorry if already posted, but I haven't seen anything related to this piece.

This write-up (though highly satirical in some spots) brings a much more logical viewpoint with respect to the whole returning starters thing. The picture below is arguably my favorite part...

Sorry but this article is wrong! Phil Steele says that Vandy and Tennesee will battle for the Eastern division title, and Ole Miss will dominate the Western division because starters and reasons and whatnot.

Prediction? Pain.

Glad y'all like the article. I did post a link to it this morning in a thread from a few weeks back where I made a similar point. But regardless, thanks for linking it again.

Yesterday Phil Steele released his own "Experience Chart," which apparently he's been doing for years now. His metrics were pretty different than mine. While I just reported the raw stats for returning playmakers from 2014, he developed an age-based point system -- he awarded teams points based upon the age of the players in their two-deeps.

Here's his experience rankings for all FBS teams: http://www.philsteele.com/Blogs/2015/JUNE15/DBJune15.html

The most experienced SEC teams in 2015 per his rankings? Mississippi and Mississippi State. (Both are ranked 36th in the country on his chart.)

Here's the order of SEC teams: 1. U. Miss and MSU (tie), 3. Missouri, 4. Auburn, 5. Kentucky and Georgia (tie), 7. Alabama and Tennessee (tie), 9. Arkansas and LSU (tie), 11. Vanderbilt, 12. South Carolina, 13. Texas A&M, 14. Florida.

I'm not sure that high experience in his rankings correlates with wins any more than returning starters -- for instance, Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Missouri, and Georgia Tech were all ranked 100 or worse in Steele's experience chart last last year -- but it's still an interesting counterpoint to all the off-season babble about MSU's impending doom.

That's weird that he has us ranked #1 in the SEC there, yet #39 in his preseason rankings. Contradict much? Once again writers are running into the problem where their "research" doesn't match what the readers want to hear (or read)....

Thanks for the efforts and this was awesome. That last chart almost looks like a big middle finger to the rest of the SEC haha! Here's a link to the thread you first posted in, along with some good analysis:http://www.elitedawgs.com/showthread.php?31402-Website-for-individual-CFB-player-snap-totals

ETA: I totally missed CowtownDawg's google sheet, that was impressive as well....https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CZxqLw_FBKVdwjgoqWwaOmCISOUCY4Gt-_vpQxano1g/edit
