I'll be heading down to the coast tomorrow afternoon. I know we'll see some good food this weekend

I lit the fire at 6:15 - I'm half in on a 12 hour smoke over applewood and oak bourbon barrel chips.

Turned out to be chocolate cheesecake and a wine "'red velvet" but I don't remember what brand it was.

I had to brag. I have been tweeking my methods, and think I hit this one perfect. My one cheat is that I buy my rub from Southern Soul on St. Simons Island (which if anyone is ever in the area you have to go to). Rub the night before, wrap tight with cirran wrap, and slow cook that baby over a pan of apple juice. The chip combo really takes it over the top for me. As my Granddaddy used to say "tastes so good, it'll make you slap your grandma".

Just got down to the coast. My fam is already at dinner so I'm just grabbing a quick to go order before I go to the condo. Decided to try a Chandelier Brewery Coconut Porter. It's very interesting but I like it. I'm not a porter guy at all either. If there is such thing as a summer porter, this is it. I wouldn't drink multiple but it's a good beer.

This was the first time I've ever done a full 12 hour smoke. Unfortunately,
I don't get to dig in until tomorrow - since this is for my daughters 16th birthday party (this was her request!).

I had to be satisfied with some chicken breasts I threw on with about 45 minutes left in the smoke, then I grilled them to finish them off.http://rs356.pbsrc.com/albums/oo8/BrunswickDawg/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsdjv82fdk.jpg~320x480?t=1432338719

Spent the day running from storms. Tried redfish in the bay all day (would have taken black drum too). Tried grass shorelines with shrimp under a popping cork and also tried on the bottom on some reefs. Got 10 croaker and 1 14 inch redfish. All the croaker were in the 10-12 inch range so we kept them and they made for a little bag of 2 finger filets. Gave them to a buddy fishing with me. All in all some of the worst conditions I've fished in in quiete some time. Pulling out of a boat slip in 25 mph winds is brutal.

Whew! As I drove over the Bay Bridge around lunch time I thought "man, you couldn't pay me to be out there today". It was nothing like that yesterday, but still pretty rough once you got towards the West half of the Bay. Just cruising and no fishing yesterday.

Ha. Ya it got awful a couple times. When you crossed the bridge I was probably either heading to or under the Deslile Bayou bridge. Never ended up raining on us over on the PC side but that lightning worried me. I just sat it out under that bridge and let the bad weather break up before I headed in. On the bright side I caught 2 fish under that bridge watching the storm.

Nice!

What are the jalapenos stuffed with? Bacon wrapped_________?

+1 on the Jai Alai, too.

The Jalepnos are stuffed with sausage and cream cheese. Elk wrapped in bacon, elk steaks, corn in the foil, deer sausage on top and squash/zucchini/onions in the pan.

I had a buddy coming over from Orlando this weekend and told him I HAD to have some Jai Alai. Love it.
