Pretty interesting comparison. Check out Casey's first 7+ years at OSU. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Casey

Would/should Cohen be given the chance to make the turnaround Casey made? What was the source of that swing in program momentum?

I'd also compare him to Arizona coach Andy Lopez (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Lopez), one of the many recent examples of a coach winning the CWS or reaching the championship series and not "building off of it"

The Pacific Northwest has some really good baseball players. Washington and Washington State both have had very good programs in years past. They also didn't have Oregon to compete with either until recently. So, not really all that much competition in state for anyone that wants to play baseball. Casey was able to land some really talented players like Jacoby Ellsbury that helped them become winners.

Cohen absolutely should be given the chance to see if he can turn things around. Based on what he has recruited plus the fact that he publically has stated how baseball has changed in college and what we need to do to change it- which is evident in the types of players we are now recruiting.

And interestingly another coach that has a history of being very intense like Cohen.
