It's been a long day and I just got to the coast. We kinda missed Friday... But who has big plans Saturday and Sunday for Mother's Day?

I assume you are down there to fish. We picked up 13 trout yesterday morning after several dozen shorts. They are all over the front beach reefs. No need to run very far right now.

My Dad caught the tide right yesterday and slew a bunch of Whiting on the Little Satilla. Fish fry tonight with creamy mashed potatoes. Nice, since I spending the day putting new siding on my shed - which is my "Mothers Day" gift for my wife. Yes, I'm a romantic...

Just busted two dozen shell crackers on a bed in Guntersville fishing out of my kayak. Great day to be out on the water.

Great catches this weekend fellas! I've been doing family graduation activities all day but managed to sneak out for a bit this morning and boy do I have a story. Idea was to explore new parts of Lake B. Hit up a few platforms targeting trout them run in the marsh for redfish. I've been intently studying map for this area which we don't normally fish. Get up to the 1st platform and find out the trolling motor didn't charge. We anchor and I notice one of my rod guides is damaged so I'm cutting line to fix and get fishing. Proceed to give myself a nice deep puncture wound with an exacto knife. After finally getting my hand fixed up and the tackle tied I caught the only 2 trout we landed. Missed a few more but both had some shoulders. Since we had no trolling motor we decided to just scout this marsh. We ride through for a while checking everything out then went back to the outer shore and found some broken grass that the wind was pushing water through hard. Anchored and in that spot I caught 6 redfish (24,20,16, 15.5, 15, and 14.5), 1 trout, 1 stingray, and 1 bluefish. Fir whatever reason they wouldn't take what my dad offered and we were using same bait with the cork being the only difference. The 3 rat Reds were so fat it was comical. Their bellies were so full it had to hurt. Always good seeing the future so healthy. All in all a snake bit day turned decent and my hand doesn't seem to be infected tonight!

Turned it into a pretty good day. As I'm sure you are well aware, take good care of that wound with all the junk in our water right now.

That was my number 1 concern. I never dipped that hand in the water and used only bottled water to clean it off. About every 30 mins I rub my hands down real good with hand sanitizer. I could feel the burn lol! With all these vibro stories I was on high alert.

Only picture I took was when we were on our way out. The sunrise as seen in the southern portion of BSL

I decided to put a South American twist on a Crappie that I caught Saturday. He's small, but it worked out fine. Columbian-style beans (first time I've done those) and rice. First time I've fried a fish with the head on too. Turned out really well. I'll be doing this again. There's a lot of meat in that head, amazingly. Good stuff.

Edit: Oh yeah, I fried the fish in my Wok. Used the "Asian scoop over" method for frying it. Where you just kind of keep scooping hot oil over the top-side of the fish as it fries. Also had a Chilean red wine (Walnut Crest Cab Sav) with this. Hell, I liked it.

Thanks Speck, that Yuengling in your pic looks the best! Damn, that is some good beer.....good fishing beer!

A few years ago, when Sapper was through with his duties to our country in Iraq, he brought a case of Yuengling Posts (16 oz). We caught the shit out of some fish. I am wondering if I should put some of this beer in my hold for the next outing......

You got that right. I just wish I could buy it locally. I picked up some last weekend in FL. Only wish I had gotten more.
